Question 9900 battery question

I was lucky enough to find a 9900 just yesterday and I have a question about the battery and charging it. The manual recommends charging it while it is off... is this really a necessity? Also, any tips on charging that will extend battery life? Thanks in advance for your help!

The best way to precondition lithium ion batteries is as follows:

1. Charge the phone (can be off or on). Do not remove the charger until it's fully charged. Overnight is a good time period for this.

2. Use the phone normally without any more charging until the battery is fully run down.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 another time (this chemically sets up the battery internally for maximum capacity).

4. Now you can partially charge as needed.

5. Every 3-4 months repeat steps 1 and 2 once.

This should help you get maximum life from your battery. If you plan on doing a lot of video or camera work with the 9900 you might want to invest in an extended or spare regular battery. The battery drains pretty fast with this type of activity.
