Got my 9500 Mobile Office Kit yesterday, from Verizon for about $53 thanks to someone in this forum who posted a 25% off link. 1. Good quality cable (USB). What I LOVE is the fact that there is a connector in the middle of the cable to attach a charger, so you don't have to exhaust the battery when using the phone for data transfer. One of my complaints about Sprint was that their data cables did not charge the phones, which was very annoying when using the phone for data, for obvious resaons. 2. I do not have a subscription to Express Network, but the Mobile Office software connects my laptop to Verizon's Quick 2 Net flawlessly every time. The 14.4K connection is slow, but it works, and when used with unlimited NW minutes incurs no additional charges. [It would be nice of one could connect to Express Network at a $$/kb rate without a subscription, wouldn't it? :-)] 3. The phone manager is serviceable, if for no other reason than to make a backup of your phone book. It has a couple of annoying quirks, however. My phonebook has about 80 names, and when I uploaded the phonebook to my laptop the software added parts of random phone book entries in about every fifth slot between 80+ to 300, although after manually deleting them it hasn't recurred. Also, I realized that after moving around some entries in the software and then downloading the revised phonebook to my phone, the Voicedialing was screwed. There may have been a way to edit the existing voice dial entries on the phone, but I ended up deleting them all and started over. The last quirk is that after downloading your phonebook the V+ key link to voice mail is erased, every time, and has to be manually re-entered into the V+ memory slot. Keeping all of the above in mind, the phonebook manager is, like I said, serviceable as an occasional backup. |

Hello, Do you need to use Verizon's Quick2Link network, or can just dial in to any ISP, and use my regular laptop browser? I am considering buying the data cable if that is possible. Thanks. |
