Default CDM9900 & external antenna/boosters

Does anyone know of 3rd party products ( such as www.cellsocket.com ) which make reasonably priced products that boost signal strength for the CDM9900 phones? I have not yet received my 9900 so no way of knowing if my current problem is simply a bad phone issue or some freaky Verizon issue that just started up. But, I'd prefer to stay with verizon as theya re scheduled to be going up with anew tower about 3200 feet away from my home in next few months. however, I do not have a land line and my current droped call issue IS an issue ( just started in Sept ). If my new CDM9900 does not fix the issue, my only options will be to (a) switch to yet another new phone in hopes it will handle signals differently (b) drop Verizon and switch carriers ( trading 1 set of problems for another ) or (c) go to some form of booster, etc until the new cell tower goes in.

Most external boosters I've seen are in the $300 range and that is pricey to me unless, of course, I can talk Verizion into paying for it ( not too likely ). The cellsocket.com products look very intriguing and are affordable, but seem to be made for only Motorola products.

Any input/experience is appreciated.
