I'm in a situation with Verizon that luckily one inside engineer is taking to heart for resolution. I currently am using an Audiovox CDM9500 tri mode phone. I do prefer tri modes at least for the present. Anyway, there is a slim chance it may be my phone causing the problems and Nov 16th Im entitled to my $100 credit for a new phone if desired. Verizon seems to be pushing the Motorola 710 but thus far I'm not that convinced due to pricing differences. They also are pushing the Samsung a670 which seems to be a nice phone but all digital. Audiovox just introduced the CDM9900, and while ugly in appearance, seems to offer a lot for the money ( net cost after $100 is basically free ). Now I see the LG 6100 and if I compare it to the Audiovox, they are virtually identical in features, least the ones I plan to use, except that the LG, while similar in physical size, has a much smaller screen. If anyone has seen both cameras, or has other insights, please share as it may help me make a decision. Most important things to me are (a) reliability (b) ability to not drop calls ( ie hold onto both strong and weak signals ) and (c) easy to navigate menu systems. I really could care less about things like camera phone/video. Thanks!

I have to say I like the Moto V710. I know you said the camera and other bells and whistles aren't that important, but the RF on this phone is fantastic. If you have used or seen menus from other Moto's, this one is similar. The screen is big, and clarity is tops. I love the phone. Yes, it is not as economical as the CDM-9900, but I think is is worth the money. You can always use your 15 day trial when you upgrade, even with the NE2 discount. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply and feedback. I'm hoping VZW gets my "issue" fixed here soon as going to a new phone is less than thrilling if the same problems occur. But I'll give the 710 a hard look at the store to see how the menus work, etc. Sounds like a good phone overall!

I have never liked Audiovox phones myself. I always thought they had a difficult menu setup. But, since I have been selling the Audiovox 9900, i am thoroughly impressed with it and might buy one for myself. the freekin camera is amazing on it. i know -phone first, camera second- but i had to mention the outstanding camera. as a phone... its awesome. the sound quality is loud and clear, as are the ring tones. a little different menu style for audiovox, so i like that more now too. as for the lg6100... good phone. all lg phones are good for the most part. the vx6000 was an awesome phone and the 6100 is just the new version of it with trimode. either phone will be a good choice. |

I ordered a CDM9900 today from Verizon. After 3 week sof troubleshooting, the Verizon engineers had little insight as to why I suddenly was having problems with my CD9500 and they offered me an early upgrade ( ie the $100 off deal ). I went to store and they were not yet stocking the LG VX6100. They had the Moto 710 and the Samsung 670, but I ruled it out due to being only digital ( still some analog in this area ). I really wanted to see the LG but they sold me the Audiovox for $50, plus there is a $50 rebate. My net cost is $3.75. The Moto was simply too much extra money for me to consider compared to the Audiovox, though I was a little hesitant to trust Audiovox again. The phone should be here by Tuesday of next week and hopefully it will tell me if the current problems I'm having are related to my handset or if there are deeper problems. I am really hoping it is the handset. And, hopefully, I'll like the new phone! The LG 6100 does look to be a nice phone though! Oddly, Verizon recommended I buy the Nokia 3589i as a good phone for weak signals but it simply is too basic for my needs. If anyone reading this has any idea why a phone wold suddenly start dropping calls when for 20 months it has been flawless I'm all ears. And, it is only within half a mile of my house.. I can go to other areas and talk fine though obviously they may be closer to a tower. My signal bars do not fluctuate much so it really doens't seem signal strength related though I was told the signal in my area is about 5 db weaker than desired. |
