Default 8900 txt and vmail alert problem

How do i get my phone to actually beep, and say something when i open my phone when i recieve either a voice or txt message. all it does is flash the lights.. and i never know when i recieve one

Default 8900 txt and vmail alert problem

First make sure your alert is on in the message menu under settings and vm/ messages.. Also make sure etiquette mode is off (hold down the star * key) oh yeah the reminder tone will scare the crap out of you the first time you hear it... man is it loud!

Default 8900 txt and vmail alert problem

Set to Tone 5, and etiquete mode is off, now last night it actually made a noise once...

2nd question, when you guys recieve a msg, doe sit say a screen like; "One new msg.. from blah..." when you open the phone.. mine doesnt and my last phone did just wondering if its broke or the way it functions.
