Default Buy the 8900 or wait for the 9900 or other models?

I need to get a new phone. and was browsing around on PhoneScoop.com and I see some new models that are SUPPOSED to be coming out for Verizon Wireless soon. I am wonderin if I should wait for these new models or just go buy like the 8900 right now.

The models I am considering are:

Audiovox 8900 right now or wait for the 9900?

LG-VX7000

Motorola v810

Can somebody compare them in your opinion and let me know what I should do? what do you feel the BEST of those phones is or is going to be?

any ideas on when they will be released under Verizon Wireless?

are there any other models from different companies like samsung, etc. that might be better that I should wait for?

Thanks guys!

I have the v60c right now and can't stand breaking antennas much longer!

Well how soon are you looking to get a new phone? If its anytime in teh next month or 2, I would say go for the 8900. Phones take an EXTREMELY long time for verizon to release. For example the V810 was supposed to be released 4th quarter last year but still has yet to be seen. I mean I can list other phones that 'should' be out soon, but waiting for phones is a VERY painful process, I sit here day after day waiting for an announcement about something new coming out for Verizon, and for the most part that news doesnt come.

What exactly are you looking for in a phone; I notice all the phones you list have cameras, is this a must for you? If not I would look at the new LG VX-4500. If you do need a camera I would say you have apretty good list there, the only one I would add is the Samsung A670.

I would personally advise against the V810, it has had so many problems in getting released and it is nothing special of a phone. here is a comparison of the 9900 Here is a comparison of the 9900, the A670 and the VX7000.

In my opinion the A670 looks like the nicest phone out of all of these (i think the 9900 looks boxy and bulky (but has the most advanced feature set)) The 7000 also looks very nice but I would expect to see the A670 first out of the 3 (I believe the A670 has been in testing for the longest.

Wow, thats a lot, but If you have other questions let me know.

any speculation on what the prices of these phones will be?

what are the main advantages, disadvantages of these camera phones when comparing them?

do any of these phones allow you to put a picture of say a friend on them to show up on the OUTSIDE screen when the phone rings, so you don't have to flip open the phone to see the picture calling id?

all of these phones should be capable of having picture caller ID on the outside since they are all Dual color screens (excluding the moto V810, this does not have a color extrenal screen and therefore will not be able to do picture caller ID)

here is a breif summary of each of the pluses of the phones.

the 9900 pro: will be able to take video clips, speakerphone, analog capabilities, made by Toshiba which has a VERY good rep, AND it has a flashlight (lol) con: it doesnt say it has voice dialing, it is a little bulky and ugly.

the 7700: pro: rotating camera, LG has become one of the best (if no the best of verizon phones)

the A670: pro: nice styling, can take video clips.

As for pricing, I do not really know what the prices will be but just for an idea, the 9900's brother (the 9950) was just released with sprint for $329. So I would expect these phones to be around 200-300 dollars.

From what I understand is the earliest you will see the 9900 is 3rd quarter, but more likely 4th quarter this year. The 610 will be out very soon though.

the A610 doesnt have an outer LCD. While it does have a rotating flip (so u can make an outer LCD and no inner LCD) so I guess you could use this phone for external caller ID as long as you dont care if you reoyally mess/scratch up the color LCD. (just me 2 cents, but I think this is a pointless phone to have)

damn, I thought the 9900 would be coming out SOON.

If you guys had to choose what phone to get what would it be?

I like the styling ALOT of the new Samsung, but how does the feature set compare to the 9900? It looks like Audiovox has the MOST features and the BEST batteries that last the longest huh?

Being that the 9900 is made by Toshiba, what does this mean in terms of design, reliability, speakerphone quality, etc? I have read numerous reports stating that the 8900's speakerphone sort stinks but am curious if this should all be better now with toshiba?

if you had to say, what is better Toshiba phones or LG phones and why?

don't they all use the same Qualcomm chips for your cell reception?

Im going to do you a favor and give it you straight...
I was just in the same boat as you (about a week ago) and did all my research...
Go with the 8900-great phone. Yeah, the speakerphone is not GREAT, but what do you expect form a cellphone?
The ONLY other phone to consider with Verizon is the LG 4500, which I saw today.
Nice features, ugly bulbous phone. No camera, and MOST importantly, -not- tri-mode...bad.
Dont even consider the Audio 86-piece of garbage.
Lastly, dont wait for phones that Verizon is supposedly releasing this quarter, wev'e got a better chance of inhabiting Mars before those phones get released.
Buy the 8900, and enjoy.

I am not sure if mcf's info is accurate, I would say you will the 9900 within 3-6 months (this is just my guess, i have no real info about it). As for Toshiba's quality its supposed to be a GREAT phone. yes the 8900 is made by Hyundai so it will have a different technology. The last Toshiba/Audiovox phone did not have the greatest speakerphone either but it has been quite a while since it was released so its very possible they have fixed that. go to phonescoop.com and look at what they say about the phones that is all the info i know about them.

As for Quality, its tough to say because there havent been many Toshiba phones around, so its hard to know what to expect from this one.

As for cell reception which phone you have does matter. They all might use the same chipset but they can have different levels of reception, because its based on a large number of things. type/effectiveness of antennae, how the circuitry is done, etc. That is why you get such a variance from phone to phone.

8600 peice of garbage? what makes you say that? whats better with the 8900 than the 8600, I thought they were basically the same minus a camera....

First off, didnt mean to sound so harsh, just had bad experiences with it.
The build quality doesnt compare to the 8900; the first feels as if its made of tin, and the 89-a more solid design.
Second, the ringer and overall volume are horrendous-the 89 is a huge improvement there as well.
Third, the UI is impossible to navigate; the 8900 isnt a marvel either, however it gives you the option of choosing between 3 different interface modes, which I thought was a nice touch.
Lastly, the 86 just does not fit on my face well...lol, you know what im saying? Its too small and uncomfortable.
Honestly, I have no interest in the camera, but the 89 overall is just a superior upgrade to the 86, especially in the battery dept.
For the first time in a while, im happy with my cell phone-which is big for me, being that Im such a tech-nut.
Anyone who has the 86 and still has time to upgrade, pay the extra 50 bucks, its well worth the cash.
Oh yeah-regarding the speakerphone-works fine for me in a relatively quiet place...who uses speakerphones in noisey environments???

It's impossible to say which phone is going to be the best because no one has tested/used these phones. Everyone is just theorizing which one is going to be the best going by what looks best on paper.

Knowing Verizon's history, I wouldn't hold your breath waited for any of these phones. It could be months or even a year before any of these are released, if at all!

There are some solid phones out right now with the LG 6000 and 4500 and the Audi 8900, Samsung 530s, and Motorola v60s.

Does anyone have any idea when the Audiovox 9900 will be out? I like the idea of a speaker phone that is in the 8900, but I rather have the newest phone, not the one that will be discontinued as soon as I know how to work it.

I called Audiovox tech support to ask a few questions. He gladly volunteered the info that the 9900 would be out in March by VZW. Keep in mind VZW's testing practices could delay the release date.
