you guys have been very helpfull thus far...so thnx, however, im getting SO many mixed responses. I have the 8600 now, but can still change for the 89. Im not happy with the 86, too small, ringer sux, interface sux. Has anyone had the 89 for a while-who can give me a thorough review? And, if not the 89, than what else is there? Ive heard good things about the LG 4500, but should I be worried about a dual band phone? I need help-only have one week left in my trial period! Thnx again... |

read my lengthy review. which is posted below. The phone is bigger than the 8600 althought the keypad is cramped. The ringers are loud and they have normal sounding ringtones, although the selection isn't that large. The interface would be my second gripe about the phone. It's rather akward. |

We had a pair of 8600s but changed them for 8900s for about ten days ago basically because we couldn't hear the ringer. We like our 8900 phones. The interface is a little different from our old Kyocera 2235 phones but you get used to it in a couple of days. The main screen on the 8900 is much better than on the 8600 so the icons and menus are much easier to read. Minor gripe is that you can't put a banner on the phone, it's replaced by a solid "Verizon Wireless", part of the Enhanced Roaming Indicator (ERI). The outer screen is a little better on the 8900 but is nowhere near as useful as that on the LX4400. The backlighting on both the 8600 and 8900 is too dim and the text to thin and weedy to be really useful. The 8600 and 8900 display the annoying "Verizon Wireless" flashing ERI on the outside. The 8900 keypad doesn't seem cramped to me (and I have fairly large fingers) and I dial one-handed without looking at the keypad any more. |
