Okay, I have been at the Verizon store and have looked at all the models that I am considering (that I know of) and need some help because I have issues with every phone and dont know which one to go with and since there isnt a seperate "phones" forum and only specific ones, Ill ask here since ill be focusing on the Audiovox 8900 as well.. Okay, I thought I was going to get the Samsung a530 but I just was at the store and noticed the ringer sucked on it when it was at maximum...there was a LG 6000 to the left of it and a Moto T730 to the right and they completely drowned out the samsung.....Ringer volume is an important thing to me since I have an LG 5350 right now and its ringer suxs.... Anyway...so, the samsung has a bad ringer and the LG and T730 have great ringers...but the T730 is a lot more expensive (why?) then the 6000 and its screen sucks compared to the 6000 ....However, I dont like the form factor of the 6000 and the camera on it....I like the t730 design, but from what ive heard it sucks for gaming with its 4k colors..I mean, whats that about? but i like its design.....so what do i do know....I couldnt try out the Audiovox 8900 when I was there because it was locked, but what do I do now? -I need a LOUD ringer...the samsung doesnt have it -I dont need a camera, especially if it looks like it does on the LG6000...at least its hidden on the Audiovox -I would like a decent gaming phone..... Ive been researching for two weeks now and thought I had it...but now I dont know..what do you guys think? |

The 8900 had a pretty loud ring on it. Although it is not as loud as the VX4400, but the VX4400's rings are almost unbearably loud to me.

Whatever you do, don't get an Audiovox . Just trust me on this one.

The 8900's ringer is very loud. It's louder than my vx4400. Plus with the flashing lights, strong vibrate feature. I never miss a call. If you're looking to get a good game phone, go with the 4400 or the 6000. That's one thing I miss with the 8900 is the games. The keypad is a little cramped to be playing action games on it. Anyways read my review of the 8900. It's quite detailed. |

Tony, I am just recommending him read my full review I miss playing games on my phone. It may sound silly, but those games I had did come in handy...long wait at the post office, waiting for someone, etc.... |

Please note Audiovox is a brand, not a manufacturer. Since your profile says you have an 8500, that makes it a Hyundai. The 9xxxx ones are from Toshiba and have a different interface.

So that means the 8900 is Hyundai-Based thus having a similar interface as the CDM85/600, correct? Also, I hate to be ____ but I hate the Toshiba/Audiovox's because of how large/unattractive they are in my eye but have better a better UI, and I hate the Hyundai/Audiovox's because of the UI but love how small and attractive they are. There's just no happy median with this brand, is there? Lol...

I could be wrong but that specifically sounds more like a service/carrier issue, rather than being the fault of the phone. | |

The UI on my wifes 8900 is actually pretty similar to my 6000. The speaker phone is pretty bad though and there are fewer games, but otherwise the 2 are pretty even. We're both happy so far. Placement of a camera seems like a poor reason to not buy a phone. We actually find the placement of the camera on the 8900 to be worse--we keep putting our finger over the lense while trying to take a picture. Reception on both seems to be the same. |

I have the 6000 and I am pleased so far. I do have a few issues, not serious, but they are issues. I am still on my 15 day trial period. Does the 8900 heat up after you talk on it for some time? Also does it also muffle when you stick in a earpice? Are the ringers on the 8900 louder than the 6000?

I have had my 8900 for 1 full day now and i have noticed it does get pretty hot after a while...the keypad/battery part (i guess that would be considered the lower half huh). anyway i haven't tried a headset but i do notice that if anything is covering the speaker on the front of the phone (where the ring comes out of), the sound of the ring is all of a sudden VERY soft...however if nothing is obstructing the speaker, it is quite loud. i like this phone, the camera is so-so but i mean i wasn't expecting it to be great...it's a phone. and the screen as you prob know is only 65K, and this is very obvious, the quality of the pictures taken, when viewed on the phone, is awful. however the quality of the pictures when viewed on a computer screen (after being sent to an e-mail address) is not bad at all! in he phones defense, another great aspect of this phone is i noticed it is very scrat ch resistant. i've dropped it/scrapped it against things numerous tims and i can't find 1 scratch..anywhere. also i've whiped the screen clean many a time and as of now...no scratches!! so all in all i really like this phone it has very visable screens, loud ringers, plenty of extra perks like the camera and getitnow and all with the piece of mind that it is analog compatitable so if you get stranded in the middle of nowhere with only analog coverage...your not screwed!! |
