I keep on hearing all this stuff about unlocking phones. What does this mean? Can it be done to an 8600 in Canada or only in US?

yeah, what the hell does that mean? lol

speaking of "locking" the phones and such.... does anyone have a pre-set password given to them or do you make up your own password when you "lock" your phone..... i almost had a heartattack the other day, lol, i was messing with my phone and my old phone would let you lock it up and then push a series of numbers(that were displayed telling you what to do) and it would unlock... i locked up my CDM-8600 from Audiovox and i couldn't get it unlocked, id idn't know the password.... but easily enough, glad that all i had to do was turn the phone on using the button and turn it back on, voila! lol

The default password for the phone is the last four digits of your number.

with some particular models it can also be 1234 or up to 5 if you haven't edited.
