gee thanks, well i been waiting on this phone to be released, hopefully it will have better reviews than the 8900, now keep in mind that the 9900 will be made by Toshiba/Audiovox not Hyundai so that's good news. 9900 you're welcome

Good job Tony E. I'm glad someone replied faster than I thought. A few more questions. How do, if you do, know that the 9900 will be offered by VZW? Also I went to that link, which was very inciteful, and I found the news site interesting. Someday you'll have to teach me how you found that info, that was nice. But when I went to see more at the end of the review it went to Audiovox website and I can't find anything about the 9900 on that site. Maybe I'm being harsh but the Audiovox website stinks. I guess the other question is when is it coming out and the price range? Let me know what you find or anyone else. Shout out to the SOUTH! Holla

gee thanks again, i try to do a good job i been following the released of this phone since it was first rumored and now it has been approved by the FCC, Sprint's version of this phone will also be out hopefully by years end (9950) and it's released has also been announced by them, so that means that the 9900 will soon follow. I know what you mean about Audiovox's site it sucks, i'll post another link on this phone, but for now is time to go to sleep. Goodnight

Cool! I saw this on phonescoop but I wasn't sure if they were the same. I hope this phone is really good and comes at a good price of about 199.99 or less. Thanks Tony E.

Just wanted to add that the 9950 is not on the website, at least for Charlotte. But they always mistreat the South when it comes to technology. Maybe in California or New York it is available. So sad. I'll keep my eyes open and my fingers crossed and hopefully the 9900 will be available for VZW in January. I'll be praying for that.

Yea, I want a Moto but I have been hearing bad things about the t720/730 and I also want a camera phone. Tell me what you can think up of, if not I'll prolly get the Audiovox 8900 but I might wait for the 9900. It sound real cool. Also I've seen the LG vx7000 comin out. What are the chances of verizon getting something like that?

I think the VX7000 isnt bad. its a little 'unique' looking, but I love its feature set; for my next phone I really want one that has a dual color screen (and a better outer color screen than the A530.) so that makes the 7000 look promising. a lot more promising than anything I see Moto getting ready to release anyways. just wish the 7000 had a speaker-phone.

i like the looks of the 9900, alot better than the 8900, plus appears to have a flash and made by toshiba - just hope that it comes out soon and the video clip feature doesnt drive the price up...

Well guys, I talked with a Sprint rep. today and he said that they will be getting the 9950 in February. So I'm guessing that the 9900 will be out around the same time. Is the 9900 FCC approved?

Just wanted to give this post a bump because I'm getting bored reading about all the problems with the 8900..... I might hold onto my V60 til this one comes out. Hope its not too long as my V60 bores me too.

Well, that sucks. So it looks like the mighty 9950 will be out in June at the earliest. Well, we'll see what it does. Hopefully it will survive VZw's "rigorous" testing.

Well.... Audiovox 9900 series have Video Mail capability. Sprint does have Video Mail now. Verizon does not. AVX 9900 for Verizon may get released only when Verizon will have the Video Mail available. When will that happen is anyone's guess.

of course they don't, that's because they don't have a phone that supports it yet, that's why we are waiting on the 9900, it was the same thing with the LG6K, as soon as it came out, pix messaging also became available.

Usually it works the other way around. You may have "hardware" at hand but you need software on the phone as well as on the back-end to support all of the advanced features the phone has. Imagine you put the phone (AVX-9900 for example) out on the market but Video Mail is not ready on the back end, i.e. the servers to send/receive/store video mails are not set up. Verizon will be flooded by thousands of calls from pissed off people who'd spend $200-300 on the phone that can send/receive video clips and it does not work so give me my money back. Verizon does not want to be accussed of false advertisement or attempting to sell vaporware. As a product engineer I totally can understand this from business and technical point of view. On the other hand Verizon is usually totally behind everyone else in deploying advanced data services. But that is nothing new. I don't want to get off on the tangent but God forbid Verizon's competition builds out their network infrastructure and Verizon'll be upto the armpits in trouble. Also what amazes me is the fact that with supposedly all of Verizon's "exhaustive" phone testing that takes months and months they still manage to release duds like T720 and AVX8900. And knowing that those phones are pure crap they still have balls to charge $180 with 2 yr. contract. |
