I picked up one today, trading in the LG VX6000 because of terrible problems with the LG using the hands free earbud. The Audiovox is great with the earbud, much better than the LG. The speakerphone, however is not so useful. If you are in a quiet room, it is great, but it is nothing like the booming Nextel speakerphone. The camera works well, with a larger display than the LG. I have not put it through its paces yet. So far I am happy with the switch. I'll make another post after playing with it this weekend. |

i went to check it out again today but a different store this time, they didn't even have it out 'til i asked for it, when they gave me a dummy version i asked for a working demo but it wasn't activated, so i couldn't really tested, (sorry Mr Brown/Dru) but it sounds from what you're saying that they didn't improved on the speaker from the previous 9500 and 8600 version.

Thats weird because I was able to try one of the working phones and the whole store looked at me when I called my cell. It was really loud and it wasn't on the highest volume setting. Also I found out I was rong with the ringers, it displays 3 "Music Tones" and then kepp going down and it brings you to a new screen that has a whole bunch of song ringtones. One thing I noticed was that some of the ringtones on the highest setting sounded garbled or a little distorted but it was only 2 of them. The earpiece sounded a little garbled compared to my friends VX6000 but maybe because I was calling my phone next to me or sometihng like that? I really like the placing of the camera on this phone. I think I might be getting this phone soon or at least by Christmas. But you never know and I can go and get the VX6000. O yah, the phone went down to $80 because of the 4 day sale. I might be getting this phone a little sooner...

One thing I like about this phone compared to the LG is the fact it's more concealable. Even when the flip is closed if you hit the button on the side it gives u a black and white shot on the external lcd. Very cool!

so you did try it? 'cause on the other thread you posted that the phone wasn't activated. Quote: didn't get to test the call quality like I would have because they only had the phone out not activated, but I know from a friend that the call quality on the VX6000 is great...got to make a few calls. But back to the 8900. I really like this phone and have a good feeling about it. The Verizon webstie said it had 25 embedded ringtones but how is that possible when in the store it only had 7. I know you have to scroll across to get to different ringtone sections like Music and Download and I checked all of them and there is 7. Is it possible that the store deleted it? I dont know but I really want this phone now. But I also really like the VX6000. Ugh, Decisions Decisions. Crazyboy

I went back to the store today for a 3rd time...yes I know im addicted...and this time the phone was active. I had a feeling they were going to activate it because all of the other phones in the store were active. Also when you hit the side button on the phone with it closed...it never showed the picture in black and white...or Im just dong it wrong.

This is a very poorly performing phone. Stay away if possible. if you already got one, try calling it from a phone with restricted caller ID. See if it rings. Chances are it will not. That is just one problem.

no, the outer LCD is not color. Also Doug I have heard others say they have not had this problem, so maybe its a problem with the phone you have or the network at the time.

I look at it this way....what are the other products the company makes besides cell phones like?? Usually thats a good indicator (exception being the moto T-series). Almost every other cell phone company makes top-grade "other" items. TV's, Appliances, Radios, etc. Audiovox makes the "cheap" boom-boxes, the cheap walkmans, etc... Why wouldn't their cell phones stink? Putting a camera on it wont mean anything. That technology is no longer expensive |

Some times an ok company shines, sometimes a good company drops the ball. By the way, Audiovox is most worried about upcoming competition from.......(Drumb roll)........Samsung. Hmmm...wonder why? | |
