Default Turning off Verizon Ad-8600

hmmm interesting. I did it and it worked!!! and then an hour later I looked at my phone and the Verizon Wireless was back i went back in and set my nam to non-auto and back to auto again and it seems to have worked again...Also I am wondering what else changing this setting will effect. It obviously does more than just take away the Verizon banner...but what I am not sure about

Well, I have had my phone like that since that post and no problems except for if I turn off my phone and turn it back on I have to redo the setting.

well it happened again...A few hours later it went back to having the Verizon Ad. Its almost more of a pain to keep changing the setting then having the verizon wireless pop up. Hopefully soon enough there will be a software upgrade that will change this.

Can someone please explain to me what the Verizon Ad is? What is it and what does it look like? I'm very curious lol.

The 'Verizon Ad' is basically the outer LCD displays "Verizon Wireless" 70% of the time (or what seems to be 70% of the time) It means that you can look at your phone (wanting to see the time) and only end up saying "Verizon Wireless" or look at your phone to see the caller ID of who is calling and it says "Verizon Wireless".

NOTE to everyone....there is no way to turn off the "Verizon Wireless" add at this point until Verizon does some updates. But I will tell you this...I have two 8600's and one of them displays the ad, and the other does not. The #1 cool 8600 (without the ad) is even cooler....it shows when someone called and left a voice mail along with the caller ID of the missed call....displayed on both the inside AND outside screen. The crappy "Verizon Wireless" #2 phone does NOT have this feature. Anyone have any ideas why? All settings on both phone are identical and tech support at Verizon can't help me fix my crappy 8600 to match to cool 8600.

My phone DOES tell me when I have missed a call and what the info of the person who called me was. (this will stay on the screen ALL the time, and i wont see Verizon Wireless ever when I miss a call) does your 'crappy 8600' not show you this info ever? because while I do have the verizon 'ad' when the phone is in its idle state I do not have it when I have missed a call.

I've found that turning off the Verizon banner by setting the NAM to auto will work until either my phone is turned of or the signal is lost. Since I live in an area with great coverage it will stay off for me for a long time.

BTW - does anyone know what "auto NAM" is? Is setting this to auto the normal setting anyway? (I think my phone came from Verizon set this way, but my wife's 8600 did not.

ehh dont be to upset. Its more of an annoyance to fix this. I feel like every 2-3 hours it resets itself and i have to go back in and change this setting again. I have finally given up and decided that its not worth and and have been trying to get used to seeing "Verizon Wireless" instead of the time or my caller ID (though i think the ladder is the more annoying)
