I thought I would start a thread where people could post any problems they are having with this phone. I for one have found that if I am using the phone and the battery is low, it never gives me a low battery warning. It just shuts itself off with no warning. like I am talking one minute and the next minute they are gone, i look down and the screen is black :-\ Does anyone else have this problem? |

Well I have found another annoyance with this phone. When I am adding people to my voice dialing phonebook, I can only train one of their numbers into voice dialing. For example say I have Bob's cell phone number and Bob's work number. I train Bobs cell phone number as "Bob's Cell" and then I go to try and train "Bob's office" and it replaces "Bobs Cell" Basically you can only have once voice dial per phonebook entry. I think this is rediculous since the people I call the most I usually have more than 1 number for.

I'm finding that I'm starting to disslike the 8600 more and more. There are just too many basic functions missing or not working right. I'm really annoyed by the fact that a missed called, message or voicemail doesn't warrant more than one beap-sequence to remind you that you missed it. |

I purchased 2 8600's at the same time/same Verizon outlet. My phone does not indicate when a voice mail has been left. BUT...my wife's 8600 displays cool indicators telling her there is a missed call, there is a voice mail, and the cllaer ID of the voice mail...Also, her phoine does NOT display the "Verizone Wireless" logo on both inside and outside screens. Any theories on why her phone is awsome and my phone is like everyone elses?

have you checked the software versions of the 2 phones? (you can do this by going to the menu then hitting 6 -- 6-- 8 (or selecting tools, then selecting others and then selecting S/W version)) I am interested to see if they have the same software loaded on them.

hi The way you set the settings so if you get a voicemail or text to remind you that you have a message is got to your messaging - go to settings-then to alerts-the choose ringer and remind and wala!!! Done. As for the battery alert mine does it fine it beeps and shows a sign telling me low battery.. D |

I think what happens is when mine is in ettiquette mode it does not alert me when the battery is low (by beeping) this is a problem since my phone is usually in etiquette mode. I think the phone should still beep (in my ear) when the battery is low and I am talking on it.

the speaker phone on this phone is pretty awful. The person on the other end cannot hear you unless you are practically screaming at them, and they come out sounding pretty tinny. I sometimes use it while checking my voicemail but other than that I have found it to be pretty useless!

I was going to switch to verizon and go with the 8600 because I wanted a speaker phone, then I went and tried it out at a radio shack. They are using the same hole as the ear piece hole for the speaker phone which makes it no louder than my phone with no speaker phone, so I stayed with sprint and got the sanyo 5500. The 5500 speaker phone is so loud, I have to keep it on the lowest setting.

I played with the phone and fell in love with it. I think I am now going to get Verizon instead of Cingular and I might get the 8600. To the people who have it: Would you guys reccomend this phone? Are the ringtones loud when the phone rings. That is a main concern to me because I am used to the loud nokias ringing. Also my teen cousin wants one. Would you reccomend this phone to a 13 year old? Thx, Crazyboy

I'm not too impressed with the ringer volume. I mean, the ones that the phone comes with are audible, but when you download new ones with VZW's "Get It Now" service they come out really low. I miss calls when I'm driving because I can't hear it ring. I would recommend the vx6000 if you like loud ringtones like the Nokia phones. Also, the voice volume is really low also especially if you are used to phones that have great voice volume. I have to use the speakerphone feature sometimes just to hear loud enough but it sounds horrible. Other than that, on a positive note, I get awesome reception. I can even force it to analog and get a full signal everywhere I have tried it so far. I am really picky and I do change phones every six months or so, but I still am objective and hope you consider some of VZW's other options first so you aren't too dissapointed.
