| To All, After recently upgrading from StarTac to the 8600 I've realized that the StarTac had a feature that I'm now sorely missing. The StarTac would emit an audible sound or a short vibrate to indicate that there was a message in the inbox that had yet to be reviewed. If the 8600 has such a feature does anyone know how to activate it? I often don't hear my phone ring and then have no idea that a message has been left until I notice the microscopic icon lit up on the menu bar. Just wondering if there's an on/off option for an audible/vibrating alert that I'm unaware of. Thanks for any replies, Ripper |

Well i'm not sure where to turn the indicator on but the phone does have an indicator mine beeps a couple of times. but if you don;t hear the phone ring you probably won;t hear the two litle beeps that sound for me. I think you can chose what you want it to be ring, vibrate Maybe you shoudl leave yourself a message and see if it beeps it would suck but maybe your missing them too |

yup, as phone said the message indicator will make noise once (or vibrate onec if its in ettiquette mode) and thats it. It has no option to keep repeating this alert every x amount of minutes.

Does the VX4400 have an audible beep? I did not realize how important this was until I was away from my phone and then had no idea that I missed a call until I checked it much later. It is a shame, I really do like the 8600 phone but it is little things like this that make me want a different phone. I have 3-days left in my trial period, But I do not want to go from a phone that has solid reception, not one dropped call to a phone that has problems...would the VX4400 be a good solid choice as far as reception, few dropped calls, good UI?

It is my understanding that the latest version of the LG VX400 software doesnt have reminder beeps either....Now you know why I use my V120E. So many new phones hitting the market with cameras, games and fancy features but do not have the most important things... My wife has an 8600 and she tries to get me to switch phones. I wont give up my V120E, a solid performer with good dependable phone features....

| ricchinifamily@verizon.net It is in good condition. It may have the older software, has the blue screen though. i had some problems with it dropping call, but I think because of the software version. The phone is 1-year old. Excellent condition. actually I have two if you want to trade for a different phone.

phone #1 the screen had a defect wher eI couldnt read the writing on the bottom (like where it says menu and find) phone #2 would get stuck at the 'calling' screen all the time without having the call actually go through phone #3 the 7 key only works about 50% of the time, also it reset itself twice in teh last week. I went in today and tried to get them to give me a different phone she said that i needed 4 defective phones before i could do that and they would swap out this phone for me...unfortunately they were out of 8600s at the time so i have to go back tomorrow or the next day. Ill let you know how the 4th phone works out. |

Good luck with your next phone, I hate to say this, but I am really getting used to this phone and liking it more and more. The reception is good, only dropped 1-call after 3 weeks...My V120E would drop at least 1-2 calls per day. Good earpiece volume...actually I have to turn it down from time to time. Ringer volume is a bit low, but loud enough for me. Thanks to "PHONE", I love having the message reminder beep every minute to let me know I have a message. Good battery life, good voice quality, nice bright screen, tri-mode...all in a nice small package. My only complaint is the "search" in the phone book...what marketing person let that one slip bye? Horrible, but I am working past it and figuring short cuts around it. Good luck and hope this last phone will not be problematic and will work the way you expect it to. |
