The phone does have a silent/vibrate mode. As far as reception, it's better than the Motorola 120e but not quite as good as the Audiovox 9500 in my experience. Previous posters have had mixed ratings for this phone. Suliman |

Stay away from this phone, folks. The audio is downright horrible. The earpiece is tinny and muffled, and it is extremely peaky. You'll waste a lot of airtime saying, "What? What?"

I agree the 8300 is not a very good phone. If anyone has one look at the call timer under home calls. We find 0 all the minutes are adding under ROAM. Also, the phone locks up after you push send nothing happens. I sent all mine back afer 6 out of 7 sold failed in the first week.
