Default Reception on Audiovox 9155 gpx?

Does anyone know anything about this phone? I'm trying it out and am finding that the signal strength in some analog areas isn't nearly as good as my old Star Tac. I have to decide within a day whether to keep it or trade it in for something else (through Verizon) -- but don't know what to try. Does anyone know how it compares to other phones and what might be better? I don't need anything fancy.
Thanks very much.

Default Reception on Audiovox 9155 gpx?

The 9000 series from Audiovox are very good and inexpensive. I am suprised you are having reception problems with it, that is what they are known for. The only recomendation I can give you is to go with the Moto V60i. It is by far Verizon's best phone. It was awesome reception and sound quality, very solid and reliable.

Unfortunately the v60i is rather expensive...more expensive than any other Verizon phone (when you include rebates) other than the Audiovox Thera. If you are on a budget and want a phone with similar features to those on the 9155, perhaps the LG VX2000 might suit your needs.

Default Reception on Audiovox 9155 gpx?

My wife and I used Audiovox CDM-4000 phones on Verizon for two years. Last fall we changed to the America Choice plan and had to get new phones. We chose the Audiovox CDM-9155 gpx. We have been very happy with the phones. I've made and received calls in Verizon digital areas with only 1 bar of signal - sounds as good as in a full signal area. Analog seems to work well also.

The CDM-9155 gpx is not the "coolest" phone in Verizon's line up but I prefer a "stick" phone over a "flip" model. I find it easy to use, has a 99 memory phone book (each memory holds two phone numbers and an e-mail address), it has vibrating alert and is light weight. The battery doesn't seem to last as long in a digital area as I though it would. I get about 100 minutes of solid talk time or about 60 hours standby time on a full charge. With the included travel charger and a car charger you will always be able to talk.

I have been looking at the CDM-9500 - cool phone! The more I think about it - being able to make and receive calls is more important than "looking cool".

That's where we disagree Rockhound. I think the 9500 is fairly ugly as is the 9155, but the 9500 has the best reception of any phone I have ever used. I never have to pull out the antenna, which is so long, it could poke someone's eye out if you weren't careful. I have used the 9500 for several months now, and the one conclusion I have come to, it is awesome!
