I'm having a VERY annoying and chronic problem - and I don't see anyone else writing about it. Bear with me while I tell you a Cliff Notes version of the prior phone. I had a Verizon Motorola Timeport 270c which had software problems for over a year (keyboard would spontaneously unlock after I locked it). Verizon knew about this problem nationwide and could not provide a fix. I visited Verizon so often over that year I thought they'd adopt me. Finally they did the right thing and gave me a new phone - which brings us to today. I was allowed a new 9500 one month ago from Verizon. Very impressive phone... then... within a few days the phone would spontaneously shut off. After 7 times (5 in my pocket and 2 while plugged in charging) I went back to Verizon (and I was actually fearful they'd roll their eyes and think ill of me... like I did something wrong). Verizon tech looked at it and said they hadn't heard of that problem... and we agreed to extend the new-phone exchange period from 15 days to 30 while I tried to watch the behavior further. It continued. Then the phone operations seized (no screen but tones on button-pushing of the dialing pad - but no calls). They gave me a new 9500. I'm about 10 days into the second 9500 and it has begun to shut off sponteneously (both in the pocket and on charge). Has anyone seen this before? Advice? I feel like if I walk back into the Verizon store again they'll shoot me.

dmalissa... I've never heard of anything like when it comes to phones. I mean, sure, we've all heard of phones with software and hardware glitches that made them spontaneously shut of, lock, unlock, etc., but never on such a consistent basis with one particular user. First explanation, you're cursed, but since we know that the probability of this is relatively slim, let's look elsewhere. You have been using the OEM (original manufacturer's equipment) charger and such, right? I know some people who bought aftermarket third-party car chargers have had problems relating to phone performance after and while using them. If you have indeed been using Audiovox equipment, then maybe your home/apartment/dwelling experiences problems with its electrical setup? Have you noticed any other electrical equipment acting up or acting funny when plugged in? I had a friend who fried his phone and discovered that his electrical system had been experiencing a series of power surges. His only clue was the TV, but he thought it had just begun to go on the fritz and thought nothing of it. If all of these are dead ends, e-mail me and I can give you the contact number of Verizon's Executive Customer Service and I would recommend calling them and discussing this problem thoroughly to see what they can do for you. Good luck

Sound like the store could have a bad batch of phones.

BU makes a good point about the aftermarket chargers. Bear in mind that the car chargers Verizon sells in their stores are usually not OEM, but are aftermarket accessories. There have been posts in the LG forum about the car chargers sold by Verizon not working and/or messing up the 4400's.

The only accessories that I bought through the Verizon Wireless retail or online stores were the extended battery (bought at the time of phone purchase in January) and the desktop charger (bought through their online sales with a 25% discount). Click on this link to take advantage of these online deals. This link should work, although at times the page has disappeared. I always make sure that the product is OEM if it has anything to do with the power/charging of my phone. I bought the car charger from Audiovox's web site just to make sure. I'd rather spend a couple extra dollars for peace of mind than deal with a dead or fried phone later. I hope you find out what's been going on, dmalissa. There is the possibility that the store got a bad batch of phones, but I would probably say that this is a very slight possibility.

Yes, you should always go OEM with anything electrical. The desktop chargers and batteries Verizon sells are OEM, for some reason though, their car chargers are not. I guess that is where they can make the big bucks charging OEM prices for aftermarket goods?

Just out of curiosity what is the software version on your phone? Is it 111.030 or 111.033?
