Default OEM Vs Aftermarket

OK, I had a post up for 2 days asking if anyone could help me get a battery for a audiovox Z800. I guess, no out there has an answer.

Now for plan B. Does anyone know of any reason that an aftermarket battery would be less satisfactory than a OEM product?

Both positive and negative responses would be appreciated.

I dont know much about the adiovox, but most Nokia aftermarket batteries have been known to explode...i'd be safe and go for the OEM

I found this site
http://www.batteries4less.com/audiovox/z-800/z800

Unless I'm wrong...it says oem battery.
Good luck!

Thank you KJO. The z-800 is no longer manufactured. It was featured by Verizon for about a year. I was afraid I would not be able to find a battery for the phone, but with your help I think that I have. I sent the company an E Mail questioning the OEM status and the age of the battery since the only phone that uses it is no longer manufactured. I understand that these batteries have a shelf life from 12-18 months. I will keep you posted on any developments.

If I get a battery I will have 2 phones, Z800 to be used at home, due to the signal problem (this phone holds on to a signal very well) and the 4400. I used the Z yesterday and it showed no signal bars, but it worked. I also have a trouble ticket to Verizon, to find out why a phone, that had 2 signal bars, in March, is now down to none.

I had an non-oem extended life battery for an old Samsung SCH-3500. It was a very good battery.

I know it's not an audiovox, but the battery was still working when we quit using the phone.
