Exclamation Thera 2032 switching carriers

O.K. Just bought a Thera 2032 and love it, but I'm having a problem switching the phone's carrier from Verizon to Alltel. I bring it into the alltel stores and they practically recoil in horror as if I've brought them a severed head! I've unlocked the phone and I know the ESN number. Of course, it's a CDMA and being a Pocket PC, I'm able to get into a lot of the phone's backdoors. Is there any way I can do this myself? Or can I make it easier for Alltel by downloading their software onto it? Where do I find that?
I've really researched this online and have found a lot of accounts where others have been able to do just this issue. What am I doing wrong?
Please don't give one liners on this one. I need a complete thought-out answer. If you think it can't be done, please explain why.

You can call and give them the esn number and ask them to do an esn change, the equipment type may not show up in their system. That phone is a digital only model so you would hopefully be able to program using *228...but then again it may not work.

You may have to program using the manual programing...the 2032 had some issues as it wasn't really a "phone edition" device it required a watcher program to control the phone and internet connection and leaving that phone model up and running really burns the battery life.

You will also need to go into the connection settings on the device and configure it to connect to either QNC or their 1xrtt network if it's available in your area.
