My one year old Audiovox phone has died literally the day after its warranty expired. The top left of the screen says" hs_s510xc.c" and the upper right says "04159" Does anybody have any ideas? Should I just bin the phone and get another? Or is this something I can reset using a repair code so I don't waste my $25 getting Bell to diagnose the problem? A bloke at future shop told my wife that this was the blue screen of death for an Audiovox phone. Thanks, Adrian telizyn@shaw.ca |

Very interesting ... My wife's CDM-8600 is just barely past the 1 year mark as well, and this week it also began displaying hs_s510xc.c in the upper left corner. In the upper right is shows 04153, which is similar to what yours displays. The Verizon phone rep tried claiming that the phone needs a software upgrade ... which didn't sound right at all. The Verizon store says that the phone rep is clueless (it's not a good sign when they say that about their own personnel) and they want $50 to replace the unit with the same model phone. After reading your post and seeing that you had the same experience immediately after the warranty period ended, it sounds a bit like extortion. I can't imagine why I'd want to pay money to replace a model -- which clearly has a defect -- with another phone of the same model. I'm trying to see if there are other solutions to this, but I'm not too optimistic at this point. Please let me know if you learn anything further about this problem, and I'll be sure to do the same. Good luck! Regards, George |
