| I have searched and asked around the last few days but cant get a solid answer on a phone that i would like to buy. Its a triband and runs GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 i heard that some cing/att users have no problems running a non 850 phone but others have. Is there anywhere i can start to find out what towers r in my area? I checked anrennasearch but info on bands. dose it depend on where u live? Im sick of bein locked in to the phones that att has. So any help would be great. thanks PS if you wanta check the specs on the phone eBay: W688 5-Points Auto Focus, 3.2 MP, Bluetooth, 1GB Memory (item 150124265090 end time May-29-07 18:01:27 PDT) |

| Welcome to WA! You can always check out the home page (click the WA graphic in the top left corner) to see which frequencies Cingular uses in your ZIP code. If it indicates that Cingular has an 850MHz license, I would steer clear of a non-850MHz phone. |

| I would say you are better off with an 859 band one as Cingular's service usualy camps on the 850 band and the 850 has better range and building penetration. If that was me I will stick with a phone that is 850/1900 at minimum. |

| Gay phones? There are plenty of unlocked/unbranded quad band phones out there, you just have to look. I would stay clear of that phone also, but it really depends on your location. I can use a tri-band phone here in Michigan with few problems, but that doesn't stand true for everyone.
