I was wondering if anyone knew what we may expect to have to pay for having not so perfect credit? Does it vary? If so what may be the most we would have to pay? We would be starting at least 2 lines.

A deposit will probably be required by at&t, and it does vary. All you can really do is allow them to run the credit check and let you know what deposit will be required. I believe it can be as much as $1,000; but more often it seems I see $200 to $500 mentioned in forums, etc.

Thanks. Can we let them run a credit check and not sign up with the account? We are trying to figure out how much it will cost us to switch. But our contracts don't end until December so we are just figuring out pricing now.

What I've generally seen happen is the person initiates service with at&t and then at&t will notify them of the deposit that is required (either in an at&t store, or via e-mail if you are trying to purchase a phone/service on-line). At that point you finalize the transaction by providing the deposit, or ignore it and the account is never established. They may be able to tell you at an at&t store at least a better "range" of what your deposit will probably look like. Personally, I wouldn't recommend having them run a credit report, etc. until you are actually ready to initiate service with at&t. A bunch of recent credit inquiries on your credit record can be detrimental when you are trying to actually obtain credit.
