I have been with ATT/Cingular since 2002. Anyway, I started receiving a corporate discount through my employer in 2005. I left the employer in 2007. When I renewed my contract in Dec of 2007, I provided them with my new employer. I was looking at phones online today, and noticed I am still receiving the discount from my former employer. I just assumed that they would receive info from the prior employer and remove my discount. Even if that assumption is flawed, I would think that me providing a new employer would prompt the deletion of this discount. Being an honest person, I don't want a discount I'm not entitled to, but if I call and have it removed can I get in any trouble for not telling them? Will they bill me for the difference (this could be a nice chunk of change over the past 2 years)? |

Thought someone would have an answer for this. I looked online, and it doesn't appear there is a way to disable the discount online. Probably going to buy an iPhone soon which I think will automatically cancel out (based on what I've read) my discount, but would still like to know where I stand on this.

I know I don't give employment information to cell phone companies... Probably if you say nothing you'll be left there indefinitely.

I wouldn't feel too bad about getting a discount from AT&T. You don't need to tell AT&T when you left your first employer. If you called them up and asked them to remove your FAN (your discount), they should just take it off and say have a nice day. Check on your current employer to see if you're eligible for a new discount. If you don't have a source at your company, there are a few lists out there, or you can enter a work or school email here: Business Center Portal |
