hello, I just recently purchased the chang jiang a969 phone off of ebay. its supposed to be unlocked. when i installed my sim card it'll tell me either "no network" or "Select Network". I went under settings and the first two networks under "preferred networks" are both Cingular. Does anyone have this phone and are able to use it? how? I went down to the AT&T store today and asked about it. the manager told me after spending 20 minutes working on it to sell it and buy a new phone. I really like this phone and don't want to sell it. any help? thanks! |

So doing a little more searching within the phone. I tried to make a call anyways through my phonebook. the phone yelled at me saying that there isn't an IP address hooked up. Can this be my problem? if so how do i find my IP address on my old phone?

It probably doesn't have the proper bands installed on the phone to be able to operate on the frequencies that AT&T is using in your area. This is quite common with phones sold in the Chinese market. Also, there is a lack of good documentation in English for these phones, which makes them even harder to use over here. Even if you did get it working, it probably isn't equipped to use all the bands that AT&T is using in your area, and you will suffer from reduced coverage. Best I can say is get an American model phone.

Thanks for the fast reply and the information. bummer though, really enjoyed everything about this phone (besides the fact that it couldn't be used as a phone) so really what i've got is a small part radio, part camera, part video camera. awesome. Any phones you may suggest with the same features? I really like the FM radio feature. that's really useful. and the dual sim card slot was awesome if it worked. |

I just looked it up and its a quadband gsm so at very least you should be getting bare minimum voice coverage.
