Thumbs down AT&T Customer Service

I have a bizarre event when I got more than 20 SMS from 011 52 (667) 271 5285 with "?Donde Estas?. I tried to call - number doesn't exist.
When I phoned AT&T service they advised 1. change my number!? 2. pay 4.99 and be able to block messengers!! or to discontinue SMS service!? I tried to explain that none of options sound reasonable. Especially the one to make me pay because their primitive system doesn't work as for example electronic mail when a sender can be blocked in one click.

I'd say even if you could call them back, they probably wouldn't understand you. Donde estas means "where are you?" in Spanish. Have you tried replying back with another SMS?

Default Re: AT&T Customer Service

It appears that the messages are from a subscriber on a Mexican carrier since the country code of Mexico is 52. The City Code 667 is for Culiacan. A mobile phone must have a "1" inserted between the country code and the city code when dialed internationally. See this link for details:International City Codes -- Mexico
