In CT, at the ATT store, things worked fine. The guy just said that as a manner of the procedure, I would need to activate with itunes at home, but the phone would work. And it did, before getting home. With the Apple store, they had problems itunes activating in the store. The difference seemed to be that ATT's procedure was not to use itunes, apple had too. Anyway, the apple store could not connect with itunes, we brought it home, and got that done within the hour. We didn't checked if the apple store p hone actually worked or not. It did with ATT though |

well i read an article in my local paper.........apparently the activations are still being done over iTunes but they're just being don in the store.....so one could technically activate a fresh unopened 3G iPhone at home.....the issue was that all the iTunes servers were overloaded and activations weren't going through...... what about MobileMe.......what happened there?

But don't you have to pay for the MobileMe. Viewfly said he synced his iPhone with Outlook and it went good. You really don't see many users using Exchange as it was superseded by Outlook.

MobileMe is the $99/yr plan to allow over the air syncing/push services without an Exchange server. If you just need push email, you can go with AOL or Yahoo also. | |

| Yes, Yahoo does. It worked really fast, pushed to my iphone real time, like a BB. And free. Except 5 times out of 10 it did not work. Maybe overloaded, or I have something wrong. Still working on it. When it did work it was great. Yes I synch, via the apple usb cable to my PC and then outlook. One only needs mobileme for over the air synching. But one can read exchange web mail easily. |

| Yeah, but I thought he meant Exchange as in the client program. Sorry, lol. I know you can setup AOL with Outlook now. I have it setup because I hate logging into there web client and hate there software even more. I still like the Blackberry for email as I never had problems with them except for the outages.

The problem in NY is now with AT&T's 3G network. It's been performing below EDGE speeds since yesterday.

Yep... on Monday speeds were hovering between 40 and 75kbps during the day. Monday late night it went up to around 400kbps. Tuesday was back down to around 75kbps again. But yesterday there was some recovery with speeds around 150 - 250kbps. Today the same. In addition to NYC/NJ I've also read complaints of sub 100kbps 3G speeds from San Francisco, Seattle, Eastern PA, CT, DC and Boston. There might be other markets.

no problems in GA. i did have one cellsite that was giving me sub edge speeds on 3G but it was a brand new tower and it was blocking a ton of my calls also. i called and had them file a trouble ticket, it was fixed in about a week.
