Default new phone no service

ok everyone i have a problem i ordered a phone from ebay and its said to be unlocked but i when i insert the sim card the phone reads on service does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

What phone do you have? What carrier are you with? What exactly are you seeing displayed? Your question is too vague to allow anyone to properly help you.

I would almost guaranty that the OP bought a Euro tri band phone ( 900/1800/1900MHz) off eBay. And needs the 850MHz band for use on AT&T in his area, which the phone dosn't have.
