| Nobody can attempt to help you without knowing the make and model of your phone.

I'm afraid only AT&T can give you the unlock code (and they'll need the IMEI of the phone) for a Blackberry. There may be some third-party unlocking services, but I doubt any of them offer free codes.

Images: 157 | I'm sorry that you did not get your desired answer fast enough, but the truth remains the only way you are going to get that phone unlocked for free is to do it through AT&T if you are an active customer in good standing. Otherwise be prepared to pay anywhere between $20 and $50 to have an independent dealer unlock it for you with a USB cable. -Jay |

Unfortunately I have a family plan with 3 phones, and I have about a dozen backup phones. I switch my phones almost daily depending on what I anticipate my communications needs are for the day ahead. I don't have any "Free unlocks" left to give away. You will find that most cell phone geeks around forums such as this are very much like me, and they burn through the unlocks as fast as they can get them on their own devices. -Jay Quote:

Maybe someone will just give an unlock to a stranger, but personally your best bet is to find a friend with AT&T and get the unlock code through them. Trying to make people feel guilty for not giving you a free unlock code is not the way to go about it. -Jay

This thread has outlived it's useful life and I am closing it out. Goodluck, I hope you find someone as nice as you and get your free unlock code. PS: You do realize that asking an unlock code from a provider for someone other than you, is borderline illegal and frowned upon by the wireless industry. If they wanted to, they can easily terminate your contract on the grounds of fraud, specially if you are doing so continuously.

1. Sign up for AT&T service 2. Find an independent dealer willing to unlock it for a fee (usually $20 - $50). 3. Ask a friend who does have AT&T service to obtain the unlock code for you. 4. Make a new friend (either in person, or online in a forum such as this) who does have AT&T, and then after some time try #3. I hope you do find a generous person to get the unlock code for you, I just can't be the person to do it. I have already stated that I am uncomfortable asking for more unlock codes than I already am. "Helpful church people", or "Decent churchgoing people" as I like to call them would never ask anyone to do anything that would make them uncomfortable. -Jay
