For the moment they are probably trying to capitalize on the fact that Apple does not currently offer a 3G device. After a few weeks the price will probably come down. It looked like a really cool device, and if it was a Motorola I'd probably be all over it, but I still have reservations about LG's build quality.

i tend to agree about LG's. their recievers particularly are weak for GSM. ive noticed many times complaints from LG users in areas where signal is less than stellar and i experienced it myself with a CU500. people who have nokias, samsungs, or blackberrys generally will have no problems in these areas. im not sure if this translates for CDMA or not.

I hear LG's build quality and RF on their CDMA phones is pretty good.

i mean their build for GSM is good too. But the RF is just subpar. maybe its a technology difference, not to drag that debate in here, but to keep in on topic, if you live in the country, the Vu is probably not a good choice. if you are always in good coverage or even 3G areas, you will probably love it.

I can tell you that the Voyager has really good RF, so LG's CDMA offerings are very good in the signal department. I don't know why they still have issues on the GSM side?

well its almost like they are made to not even operate below a certain dbm. now agreed, alot of phones are this way, and for good reason. but its like their resistance doesnt permit as low as samsungs/nokias/blackberrys.

the new palm centro has a similar issue.

I had an opportunity to play with the LG Vu this morning. I have to say overall I liked it, the built quality and Rf were excellent and unlike the iPhone it provides tactile feedback when the screen is touched.

The phone supports A2DP which enables users to listen to all their music via bluetooth stereo headphones. The bluetooth connectivity is fantastic and supports just about all the profiles possible


Here are a couple of things I did not quite like:

1. Seems like there is no contact synchronization options. The only way to transfer contacts is via the SIM card which messes up multiple nos, E-Mails & other details. There is no synchronizartion CD/software. According to LG they have no plans to support this and recommend users either manually type contacts in or copy via SIM.

2. It has no support for IMAP based E-Mail.

Thanks for sharing Charlyee. I have to have the contact synchronization option and so does my dad (that way he can sync all of his business numbers). My dad and I played with the iPhone earlier tonight at the AT&T store up at the mall by my campus. We didn't have a chance to see the Vu since we walked into the store about 9 minutes before they were closing (plus I forgot to look for it). We will probably go to the AT&T store down by us again in June before we sign up in July. I saw a thread over on HoFo about someone complaining that AT&T doesn't have that many phones and I thought that he was crazy. I think that AT&T has a huge selection of phones to choose from.

so i checked it out the other day the mobile tv is pretty cool you get 10 channels for 13 dollars or if you want inlimted inet and cv plus the to channels its 30 dollars its a little steep though 400 with 100 back the one thing i am not sure of is whether or not you can download opera mini on in to replace mobile web some phones are coming with it preloaded example the new bberry pearl.

I agree. AT&T has a large selection of phones, probably one of the largest selections of any US carrier.

The only issue I have with AT&T and their phone selection is they way they show them on their site. They mix refurbs and other repetitive junk which inflates their list of phone (which I've seen number about 120 or so). I find it cluttered and confusing. It would be nice if they could provide a filter to remove refurbs. Practically everything they sell has a refurb connected to it, making it seem like they have double the amount of phone than they actually have.
