The CSR also told me that AT&T could not go into my account and check to see what the activity consists of as far as net useage, he told me it wasnt legal. So, basically, there is no way for them to find out exactly what was done that i am being charged for. What if there is a bug in the billing, and there is no actual info as to what I was doing to run up "useage" charges. How would they know that? Since ive obvioiusly been told something false about blocking my internet for my phone, I have no idea anymore. I think the CSR honeslty didnt know what he was telling me was false.
If the billing cycle isnt over then that means you havent been billed for a month........legally the cellphone companies arent allowed to tell you what youve been billed for if it hasnt been posted to the account...

meaning......if January 1st is the beginning of your billing period and it ends on the last day of January. you can make phone calls and use the internet and text out the wazoo.......all they can tell you is how much........on February 1st they can legally tell you the dates and time of your data sessions and phone calls and messages. But usually its not for a couple days after the billing period is over because it doesnt post right away........

now.....AT&T also offers a "No Browse" option where MEdia Net doesnt work but IM and MMS and Email all still work......thats a possibility......if you did that and that stops all the charges then your good.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just got my AT&T bill today and I had a whole bunch of false data usage charges. There were numerous twice-daily charges at odd times of the day. These charges started, oddly enough, at the beginning of the billing cycle and continued even through today. Although AT&T credited my account for the billed charges (but not the unbilled ones), the customer service rep kept telling me that I must've accidentally accessed the Internet, even though there were so many charges and even though that my cell phone has a keypad lock and requires several steps to access the Internet.

I went to the AT&T Wireless Forums and saw that other people had the same problem. AT&T is just asking for a class action lawsuit.

I'd be looking for any software that might be running...where its always the same time each month...before going the legal route have your phone checked

I agree, I have had the same issue with them over the last 4-5 months. I would be willing to sign a petition, or whatever is required so that this will stop. I pay for the ability to send text/picture msgs and I should not be nickel'd and dime'd to death because of some erroneous data charge that can't be accurately explained to me.
That!!
