Default 3G Cell Phones

Hello,

I just discovered this forum from the process of researching for my next cell phone.

I am currently using Sony Ericsson K750i, which is GSM 900/1800/1900, on AT&T network. It's a great phone but since AT&T is turning off part of the GSM 1900 cell for 3G and switch on GSM 850, I started to notice bad reception in certain areas. I do travel internationally so quadband is going to be a requirement for my new phone.

I also want to explore 3G services, which is UMTS/WCDMA 2100 overseas and UMTS/WCDMA 850/1900 in US. This sucks. Big time.

The only quad band GSM and quad band UMTS/WCDMA phone I know is SE K850i. Nokia N95 only has dual band 850/1900 UMTS; N95 8GB and N82 only has UMTS 2100.

I don't want to be paying for 3G services but get stuck using EDGE network.

Anyone have any suggestions as which phone I should be looking into? I only have one very simple requirement: quadband GSM + triband UMTS.

Take a look at the HTC Tilt. I absolutely love mine. Its modes are: GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and WCDMA 850, 1900, 2100.

The Blackjack II & The Treo 750 are a couple of your other choices.
