Will the Palm Treo 750 work on at&t's PYP prepaid if I have the $19.99 unlimited media net plan? I know that real web browsing wouldn't work, but Wap should. If I can use it, what other features would work? I'm still undecided on this one. I've seen Charlyee's review on here and it seems ok, however the reviews that I've read on CNet haven't been good at all. Palm Treo 750 - black (AT&T) Reviews. Smart phones Reviews by CNET. Thanks in advance. |

I didn't registered my phone with AT&T for three months and they didn't know the difference. Yes you can use it on a Prepaid or Pay as you go plan.

| Thanks for your reply. The AT&T store rep. confirmed for me the other day that although I could use a smartphone with PYP, he didn't recommend that I buy the Treo 750.

| Wirelessly posted (HTC-8900/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) Update: So far my new Tilt has been working perfectly on PYP. I haven't noticed any data charges so far, even while using IE. I plan on testing the WiFi, when I figure out how to use it on this PDA device. |

I could do it on my QTEK 9100 but that was unlocked & unbranded, so I was wondering how at& handles the branded phones. Thanks Much

I just checked. Under Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks you can specify which data connection to use by default. -Jay

Jay, did you notice any improvement in the battery life after the first 3 charges? I charged it fully over night, and now the battery is down to 55%. Thanks.

Thanks for letting me know about the battery. I guess all of the smartphones applications uses more juice than I thought. |

why go PYP? If you have your own device or Pay "Full Retail" you can be on an "current rate plan" with no obligated contract. the only thing is you will have to pay $25 for the sim card and that is it. this is something that not many people know about right now but it is in fact something that AT&T is doing as part of compliance and IMO, seems to be a stab towards an even more open service. |

eh depends on where you work if you get an employee discount. if you cheat the system with the medianet unlim on a reg plan your lookin at about 55+tax...so in that case yea that will be cheaper the way you are doing it. and the good thing about the PYP is they give you the larger footprint like the normal plans and so they dont restrict you to just native calling like the Pay As You Go

| Charlyee, dmapr put up maps of these two services together in a thread once. (I don't know how he did it) Do you know how to do that, in order to show the comparison of the two? Thanks.

1. Regular. 2. PYP 3. PAYG Eric, it may depend on how good the at&t native coverage is in an area and how providers they have to have roaming arrangement with. As you can see IA has the biggest difference. This where I got it from, at&t Coverage Viewer.

Also even though they look pretty close, my regular phone would have reception north of the Madison area but my PYP didn't. In that area I mostly roam on IWireless. Basically both GoPhone plans are worthless in IA, but I get very good reception all the way through IA and NE on my regular phone.
