I've been thinking about shelling out for the extended night/weekend minutes (which I know I would use a LOT, and it costs less than upping to the next plan, even if $9/month seems kinda high). I was all set to do it tonight, but didn't because I wasn't sure what would happen in terms of my contract. My contract expires at the end of the year, but I'm eligible to upgrade my phone now. I know when I had Sprint, adding anything to the plan automatically reset your 2-year contract date, and I'm not sure if the same thing will happen with AT&T if I add this feature. If so, what does that do to my upgrade eligibility? I've been waiting to see what SE phones come out, so I don't really want to mess up my eligibility. Anyone know if I'm worried over nothing here, or would I be better off waiting until I get a new phone to add something new to my plan? Thanks much! |

I believe since this is a feature it will not extend your contract, if you change your main rate plan then it can extend your contract after I believe 6 or 9 months into your contract.

Adding that feature wouldn't affect your contract or ability to upgrade. Even if you were to change the rate plan and they made you extend the contract that wouldnt affect the upgrade eligibility. In short, if you want to dd it just be prepared to pay the prorated partial month's charge as well as the month in advance. |

I've never had a change of rate plan or feature change the contract date. The only thing that has ever changed my contract date is upgrades. -Jay |

You guys are all correct--I phoned customer service today just to be sure and they said that adding the feature would not change my contract date or mess up my upgrade status. Thanks much for your help!
