Thanks Blue4Life, it works, but only in Edge.

In your case, are you able to access mMode in 3G?

I have 3G, but I can only use it for voice.

My phone doesn't support 3G. Dmapr doesn't seem to be having any problems with 3G access on his Sony Ericsson K850i and his blue sim card. I know of other blue customers on the AT&T forums that have no problems with 3G access either. This leads me to believe that there may be a 3G data network issue in your area.

Interesting, so do you think that 3G Data was never implemented for blue customers in my area? Or they shut it down, or iis it a network issue overall?

I doubt that they shut it down, it's either has never been implemented for Blue customers or has an issue. Since you mentioned that voice services work, it would be reasonable to suspect there's a data issue on 3G in your area. Is there an AT&T Orange SIM you can try? If not, you could try talking a sales person at an AT&T store to let you try theirs or buy a PAYG one.

I would expect that the phone would not be able to register on 3G network if you didn't have access.

No you cannot test it through mMode by using an Orange SIM. I believe what dmapr is saying that if your phone cannot avail data on 3G even with the Orange SIM then it is conclusively a 3G data issue in your area and has nothing to with your Blue SIM.

Makes sense?

Hope you don't mind my replying instead of dmapr.

Or, maybe I should say I hope dmapr does not mind my replying on his behalf.

Thanks for your help guys, everyone.

I'm gonna go to the store, but before I test the data network let me get this clear. If I borrow an Orange SIM, I have to use MediaNet under the person's account to test the 3G right?
If it works, then there's something wrong with my blue settings or the 3G for blue customers, if it doesn't work, then there's a problem with the 3G on my area overall??

Thanks

Yes, need MEdiaNet settings to test with the Orange SIM. BTW, I use 10.250.250.54:8080 proxy for my mMode, but I've seen another one mentioned as well: 10.250.250.250:9201.

I tested the phone with my freind's att sim card (the new one that says 3G on it) and the 3G data service works.

Does this really mean that the problem is my blue sim card, or is it my blue service?

What sould I do now? Can I just get me a new sim and use that one with my current plan instead? or do I have any other options without changing plans?

Thanks.

It could be that in your area AT&T is blocking 3G data access for Blue customers, although it's strange that they allow the voice services through. Unfortunately, you can't use an Orange SIM with your Blue plan — you could try obtaining a different Blue SIM, you could also try AT&T Tech Support Chat if you haven't already.

I just called ATT tech and the first rep told me that I had to change my plan, hehe..right, I called again!!

The second rep told me something to think about though, he told me that it could be possible that my old sim does not recognize the 3G Data service in my phone..hmm.

plus he added that "because I have been a long time customer" he would give me a new 3G SIM card for free, I just had to go to the store, pick it up, and make them call to active it.

Is this guy pulling my hair, or he just doesn't know? Is it possible to activate a new card with my blue plan or not? Apparently, he thinks so, lets see.

You will not be able to activate anything but a former AT&T Wireless sim card (serial number begins with 8931 0380) on your blue plan.

You may have a better chance sending a message through OL;AM to find someonew who even has a clue on how to resolve the issue or even acknowledge that blue customers have had access to 3G long before Cingular (aka AT&T Mobility) acquired AT&T Wireless.

LOL, we seem to specialize in baffling you.

This has nothing to do with the AT&T forums. Have you ever logged in to check your minutes? Once you are logged in, go to the Contact Us link in the upper right side of the page. scroll down and click the Email Us link and send your message. If you've never checked your minutes online, you would need to register for online access to your account.

The chat link I posted puts you in contact with AT&T tech department (or at least it used to). When you call in, you're talking to regular CSR, unless you get transferred to the tech department. And as Blue4Life made it clear, the second guy just doesn't know — they have no AT&T Wireless SIMs at the stores
