Default Sim Cards...

Is there ANY problems with buying a phone with no sim card (from Ebay for instance) and then buying a new sim card that is NOT from an AT&T store?

Thank you!

Well, you'll want to make sure that the phone on eBay is unlocked (i.e., not locked to accept only SIMs from one provider), and you'll want to make sure AT&T is willing to put activate your SIM. I'd buy the SIM from AT&T, honestly.

eBay as well But one would have to make sure it's not activated.

Hhaha, funniest burn ever... buy a SIM card off of e-bay, pay shipping handling, call C-service to have it activated and too late, it's already been activated. BURN.

There are a lot of SIM's for sale on Ebay, even the old AWE are still around & mostly you buy them in a lot of 5 or 10.
The majority are new un-used SIM's so most people don't get burned, I'd worry about the sale of 1 SIM from someone with a so-so rating.

In the long run for the OP it would be around the same to go to a Corp. Store or call CS and buy the SIM for the $36.00. Then you know it's good to go.

Just out of curiosity, isn't the sim included in the activation price :-p considering they are the same price.

Yes as far as I am aware of it is. It makes sense to buy the SIM from AT&T vs buying one on Ebay just because of the activation worries.

Normally if your an AT&T Customer & you buy one on Ebay for 5-10 dollars & have a problem with your SIM, you can get it activated to replace yours vs paying the $25.00 for a replacement SIM.

Also for older Blue customers, if you have an old un-activated Blue sim (I have several) and your current SIM goes bad, you can call to get one of the spares activated with no additional fee.

Actually, I've had 3 Sim cards on the same contract with AT&T, one when I changed phones, and the other came when I changed markets, none of the Corp stores I was in charged me for any of them. Odd though, guess it's at the disgression of the rep you're dealing with.

pretty much... but in some instances like a cross market move you have to get a new sim... in that instance you are given one FOC
