i just think it will be disappointing because of its lack of 3G although i heard that sometime soon they should begin work on a 3G capable one for other countries |

this is what comes in the box.(hot off the Ipod training) 2 versions 499.99 4gb 599.99 8gb • iPhone with a pre-inserted SIM card • Wired stereo headset • Dock (stand/cradle) • USB cable for charging and synchronization • USB power adapter • Quick Start guide • Important Product Information guide (warranty & safety information) Warranty Exchange AT&T does not support Warranty Exchange of iPhone. All iPhone inquiries regarding warranty should be directed to Apple. Protection Plan iPhone is ineligible for the Wireless Phone Insurance program offered to AT&T customers. If a customer currently has Wireless Phone Insurance from AT&T, it will be removed after the device is activated. Customers will be notified during the Activation process and will receive a confirmation cancellation letter. If a customer decides to return their iPhone for buyer's remorse, there is a 14 day return period from the date of purchase. However, the customer will still have the full 30 day buyer's remorse period for their wireless service contract. When an iPhone is returned to either AT&T or Apple, there is a restocking fee charged if the package has been opened. The restocking fee is 10% of the original price. |

Well, for such a price tag, its good to know that at least they include data cables, the cradle and charger. Normally, with other phones, AT&T includes the packaging because they have to!

well at least they include all those accessories.......you're still at the typical small-thing-for-big-price Apple thing but they are putting extra stuff in it at least

I'm still trying to decide if the price tag is worth switching over to AT&T or Cingular or whoever they decide they're going to be next. Although, unlocked cellphone sites are already announcing the release of unlocked iphones on July 1st. That's only a few days after the expected June 29th release date of AT&T's iphone.

| I'm not sure about this. They are saying the SIM card will be exclusive for the iPhone so you can't use another SIM card in your iPhone. And you need to complete activation at Apple.com

$499 for 4 Gig and $599 for 8G.. And the SIM cards are inserted into the side of the phone and ejected via a button on the side. SO, hypothetically you can put in a SIM from another carrier but I'm not sure what the policy will be for unlocking and iPhone

Unlocking the phone is unlocking the phone isn't it? If the phone is unlocked then you can put any SIM card into it right? I'm sure the configurations will hit the internet at some point as far as messaging and everything else.

The phone will not be released until this Friday the 29th at 6PM, also something I read on the reviews said that the SIM is internal & can not be removed, I found this very hard to believe & other then Joe's post about the SIM going in the side of the phone, I can't confirm either one. As for the price, I wouldn't buy 1 for the $500.00 for the lower end model, no matter what.

Thanks Joe, I also thought the article was wrong on that as well & it makes you wonder how well they really checked the phone out, if they didn't know the SIM was removable.

| This is true. I could be mistaken, but I'm 99% sure I remembered that correctly. I know the battery is internal and not removable, but neither was the iPod either.

Q and A from Apple.com Can I use the SIM card from my current mobile phone? You should use the SIM card that came preinstalled in the iPhone. Can I transfer contacts from my current mobile phone to my new iPhone? Yes. You should first transfer all your contact information to Microsoft Outlook on a PC or Address Book or Entourage on a Mac. Then you can sync your iPhone with your computer to put your contacts into your iPhone. ...hmmm? Isn't it more easy to transfer contacts with your current SIMCard ? Can I “unlock” iPhone and use it with another wireless carrier? AT&T is the exclusive wireless carrier for iPhone in the United States. If you currently use another wireless carrier, you can choose to transfer your number when you activate your AT&T account. From att.com Q. How do I activate iPhone? A. You activate iPhone in a whole new way—using iTunes right on your computer. All you need is a PC or Mac, a credit card or debit card, access to the Internet and an email address. The credit approval for your AT&T service also happens on your computer. It’s part of activating through iTunes, but if you’d rather have your credit pre-approved before you leave the store, an AT&T store representative can help you with that. Q. Does iPhone work out of the box? A. No. iPhone must be activated before it can be used. iPhone includes a pre-installed SIM card for your convenience. Q. I'm an existing customer. Can I swap out my current SIM card and start right away? A. No. iPhone must be activated before it can be used. iPhone includes a pre-installed SIM card for your convenience.

Guess this answers your question on transfering them by SIM & it does look like the SIM is not accessable. Seems too confusing to me on if it is or isn't accessable.

Apples propriatary way of doing things bites us all in the a** again. We will have to wait and see. So one will figure out how to modd the damn thing. Using itunes to activate a phone kinda sucks as well, so know if your not using itunes you will have to load it on your computer. |
