You can start reading up on modifying the phones' firmware (aka, "modding") here (Jay's reference base for modding Motorola phones) and there is also some good info in the RAZR Sub-Forums. Good luck and be sure to read everything you can because there is potential to do damage to your phone and turn it into a paperweight. I, myself, have never modified a phone in this manner and it will void your warranty so you'll want to weight the pros and cons before embarking on such a journey.

I suggest unlocking the files first, which will enable the copy/move/delete commands in the phone's menu, and then using the phone to delete them. Do NOT use any P2K programs under any circumstances to delete images and/or sounds from your Motorola. You can screw up the sound/image database if you delete them with a P2K software and then you'll be in trouble. To unlock a file, simply upload one of your own sound/image files to the phone using Bluetooth or Motorola Phone Tools via cable. Then open your favorite P2K software and search for the files you uploaded. There will be an Attribute code number next to each file you uploaded. Make a note of that number and then look for the locked files you want to delete. Change the Attribute code on the locked files to the code you found earlier on the files you uploaded. Once your locked files have the same attribute as the files you uploaded, close your P2K software, disconnect the phone from the cable and then use the phone menus to delete the files.

I should add that the attribute code that puts a file in "unlocked" state can be different from one Motorola model to another. And it is also different codes for different file types. For instance, in a RAZR, the code for a GIF file is different from an MP3 file. So, in order to find what the correct codes are, you have to upload different files to know what the codes are for each file.

Yes, I've read that and I've done it several times, until one day I tried it and ended up with a defective menu. So I am skeptical of that practice. Better let the phone do the deleting.
