From what I have been googling, it appears that the BlackJack can be used as a modem for my lap top when Im not near any wifi. I plan on going with the PDA Connect Unlimited Add-on. Will this plan be sufficent for using the BlackJack as a modem?

Images: 157 | Cingular recently took teathering off of the new SIM cards. (They got me, I can't teather anymore since I got a new SIM card). You will probably need a laptop connect plan for them to enable that feature unless you are using an older SIM card.

| OR... You can go here.. http://www.wirelessforums.org/alt-ce...odem-9147.html The part you really need to worry about is doing is step 5 or so. Hook up the Blackjack or w/e and go.. |

I have had a horrible experience with Cingular using the Blackjack as a modem. I did lots of research on the phone and decided to make the purchase. Last Thursday, I went into a local authorized agent and he told me that I could use my phone as a modem for 30.00 per month. On Friday I went by the local corporate store and discovered that the cost was actually 39.00 per month. I decided that I could afford 39.99 per month and I signed the contract. I went home all excited and wanted to try out all the features. One of the first things that I did was to setup the modem drivers and download the connection manager from Cingular's website. I was unable to make the feature work so I called tech support. The lady was very nice and we tried several things without success. I had to get off the phone and decided to call them back on Saturday. I called them back and was told that I needed a teather plan which cost 74.99 per month. I went back to the corporate store and was told that I only needed a plan which cost 59.00 per month. I then decide that I needed out of the contract. I called my old provider and they could not port the number for at least 48 hours. I decided on the way home to call customer service. I really felt like I was in an old game of bait and switch. I was told by customer service that the plan did cost 74.00 and the only thing they could do is offer me a free month to try the service. I decided to try the teather function Saturday Night and I still can not get it to work. I have followed the instruction on Cingular’s website and can not get my phone to teather. Has anybody else experienced a similar problem with Cingular? I really wanted to switch, but I am left wondering what else I have been told that is wrong. I really wish their employees were properly informed as to the correct pricing. I am going to switch to somebody who can provide internet to by laptop via my phone. I am just not sure which company will be receiving my service. I want to get window chalks and write all over my car windows to beware of cingular. I know it will not do any good, but at least it will make me feel better. |
