| We had a discussion in here about several phones and it was said that this phone seems to be a good release from LG. May benow they are paying attention to their quality. I have seen it and I did like it but as always LG was a bad name for me. One thing that I would like to add, I recently got one of their Plazma Screans and I must say it rocks and it was my choice over Pioneer and Panasonic. So one can say that LG is Looking Good if they keep up the good work.

Since I wrote that review, I have had a lot of experience, most of it negative, with Cingular and LG technical support. Basically the tech support people at both companies are not very technical, don't understand issues of standards support, and try to make any issue that they can't handle the other company's fault. There is no issue resolution mechanism or coordination between the hardware provider and the service provider, as far as I can tell. It's probably a lot more than you want to wade through, but I have chronicled most of this in a couple of threads. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ci...t=cu500+review http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ci...lications.html The good news here is that Cingular has put out one OTA software update that improved performance. Another update in the near future is likely. I have two remaining feature/function issues with this phone. One is the Java application/Google Maps issue I discussed in my original review. There is a workaround for this, published elsewhere, but I have not gotten around to trying it. The other is that certain AAC music files (e.g. the ones that iTunes makes) do not play on this phone. If neither of these are crucial for you, I can recommend this phone. SW

The phone has really impressed me. I had a few doubts, given LG's history with Cingular, but have been totally happy with it. Yes, the constant issue of approving java apps is annoying, but not a deal breaker. The build quality is very good, sound quality is excellent and 3g is killer. Things I wish it had....voice dial, and a "steady volume" ringer. The ascending ringtone can be a bit annoying as well, but I overcame that by extending the ring time to 30 seconds before going to voicemail. |

alright thanks guys......i have never owned an LG as a phone before and this one caught my eye...............i probably wouldnt be putting anything drastic oin Java Apps because they only thing i would haven ormally gotten would be the GMail app and that requires data and Cingular's data packages are outrageous...
