Default *228 doesn't work with USC
Can anyone let me know about this issue: I cant dial *228 with my LGVX6100,US cingular Phone. Everytime it keep saying "Provision programming unsuccessfull". Please advice.

Cingular automatically sends updates to your phone,*228 only works with Verizon.

Does Cingular even support the LG VX6100? The VX6100 is a CDMA phone (according to phonescoop)meaning this is a US Cellular (or Verizon, maybe Alltel) phone. If OP cant dial *228 on his phone, he may not be in native coverage (these updates can only be completed in USCC native coverage). Or he could take it to the USCC store to update it

I think your right. It sounds to me like spriya has a CDMA phone too.

As other posters have mentioned, this is a CDMA phone, which does not work with Cingular (a GSM carrier).

It was working fine for me with my LGVX6100 until a week before. After some time I am not able to dial *228 . Normally I used to dial and get messages like: SPL[Specific Programming Location] unlock ok ! , PRL[Prefred Download List] OK ! Commit OK ! Provisioning Successfull.

so the question is are you using Cingular as a service provider?
