See, this is the kind of marketing Cingular needs. I say no more cutesy little kid ads with baloons and lollipops unless they're marketing KIC. This kind of marketing is the kind that can have an effect on people's minds. It can change Cingular's reputation from being just an another low price wireless carrier for teens to a wireless carrier adults and businessmen can rely on. This new campaign looks so much more professional than a dancing orange Jack. From the marketing professional man that I am I say good job Cingular.

The "bar" campaign is good. Even though we know bars don't mean everything, most people in America think more bars means better service. People will buy into that. I see and hear people all the time comparing the level of bars on their phones to their perceived coverage.

Bobolito, one of the commericals made mention that Cingular has the largest talk for free area in America. Isn't that no longer true since VZW's IN Calling now extends across most of the America's Choice Network.

Also, when mentioning they have the largest digital voice and data network, what are they comparing it to? Are they including licensed areas, or areas active with cell sites owned by the company? Are they including TDMA coverage with their claims, or simply all combined current and future GSM coverage?

Nice find on the commercials. Thanks.

I like their new comercials and I think they're going to do fine (Cingular). As for Verizon, their comercials are the most annoying wireless provider comercials I've ever seen.

I agree. These new ads give Cingular a much more professional look. Cingular ads no longer look like a toy company they use to portray themselves as. I guess they are targeting a more lucrative market, namely, those AT&T Business users. They also seem to target Verizon ads directly. I personally like the animation of converting the AT&T ball into Jack's head. They stole my idea!

About the Cingular's largest voice/data network, I believe so. Cingular/AWS GSM network alone now covers 268M POPs. I don't think Verizon alone reaches that much unless they include roaming partners. Cingular's claim also has to do with the fact that wherever there's GSM coverage, all your digital features will work seamlessly including data no matter which carrier you are roaming on, which is not always the case on a CDMA network.

About who has the largest M2M area, that's debatable. I guess we can just compare the maps. For the foreeable future, I guess Verizon will simply continue to add roaming partners as part of their IN and America's Choice networks to compete with the expansion of GSM.

The way I thought of it as is Verizon's AC map also includes their anaolog service. Cingular's GSM network is all digital, I'm assuming and they're just saying their "digital coverage" is more than VZW digital coverage. I really hope that makes sense.

That makes sense. I guess VZW cannot fully say they are "all digital" until none of their older cell sites emit any analog signal even though they've completed a nationwide roll out of 1x already.

The part I was confused about is now that Cingular owns AWS, they also own their old TDMA and AMPS networks too which technically make them a digital/analog company with the excpetion of their GSM only plans. I wonder if their new maps will show the all GSM areas compared to the all TDMA areas available to their customers. I already know they will not push TDMA anymore.

I wonder how fast Cingular will convert all the older TDMA and AMPS towers up in the mountains out West that have served old AWS customer so well for the past several years???

The maps and offerings you see today are all GSM. They are trying not to mix TDMA/AMPS with GSM anymore. So the comparisons are basically between their GSM offerings and Verizon's CDMA.

I totally agree that these are good ads. Cingular should have been harping their coverage well over a year ago imo. Now...if they would only fix a massive dead spot in our capital...ATT managed to not cover this area too! It only includes Dover Downs and our mall...the two biggest attractions in the whole darn county!

"We do not guarantee indoor coverage"--CIngular

We'll I cannot guarantee I'll stay with Cingular then! :p It's just rediculous, they get good service outside these places, zip inside, and it's starting to bother me. If every other provider thought it was imporant to get coverage inside, so should they. I'm going to write them and complain, hey they are #1 now, no excuses for such obvious holes.

I just like the commercial that has The Band's music in it! And that is the only reason I like it.

I noticed in today's paper the Cingular ad for 1000 Anytime mins is expiring on the 15th, seems to coincide with the news that new plans are coming out on this day. I still don't see anything on the Cingular Ad's about them being part of AT&T yet, but do see it on the AT&T ad's as of today.
