Default want to swap sim card to different phone

Well, I got a RAZR from Cingular a few weeks ago. It got run over tonight. I tried to put the sim card into my old Samsung x427, but I need a SIM Lock password. I tried 1234, 0000, 000000, 00000000, and the last 4 of my wireless number, all with no luck. Any suggestions, or am I SOL? Appreciate the help

If I am not mistaken you are only allowed 3 tries to unlock the sim than the card is fried and unusuable. You are better off taking your Samsung to a Cingular store and they will issue you a new sim for $25.00,they can activate it there and than you will be back in business. Good luck

If your old Samsung was from T-Mobile (or a foreign cell company) you will need to have it unlocked... check the Marketplace forum for people who will do it for a small fee. (Wirelessadvisor.com does not endorse any of them, by the way.) If it was from AT&T, though, take it to Cingular and demand that it be unlocked to accept your Cingular SIM, since Cingular bought AT&T.

Your SIM isn't fried and doesn't need replaced, but your phone may now be locked such that you have to have it unlocked with a cable, which tends to be more expensive and/or require you to bring or mail in the phone to the unlocker... just consider it "stupidity tax" for trying to get round it without knowing what you were doing.

Well, the RAZR was Cingular, and the Samsung was Cingular. Thanks for the input, but unfortunatly it hasn't helped yet.

I hope you are right as I was told that the wrong pin code 3 times fries the sim.Although I made a mistake as to the phone and did not realize the x427 is a blue phone.... too much on my brain.

Again the sim card will not fry, it just rendered useless because like it was stated it get's locked, that's more of a security purpose, the Samusing x427 it's also a Cingular phone, not just blue ATT.

If they are both Cingular phones then I am confused why it would even as for a SIM lock password. I would suggest you take it to a Cingular store and let them figure it out, they are both phones that Cingular offers at the present time.

Nope, Nope, Nope, it does not fry the SIM, all it does is render the phone unlockable without a cable, just as Tony E, Zaphod, and others have already mentioned. Take it from someone who has "been there done that"....

The way i see it he tried to SIM unlock the phone.
Obviously he screw up the phone,
he now has to bring it to the store.
Or one of those unlocking web sites
which i don't know if i'm allowed to link.

Well, there must have been something wrong with the phone I tried swapping it to. I tried a third phone, and it's fine. Thanks for the help. Now I just need to find a new phone, as the "new" one is a loaner.

you are only allowed 3 pass code tries.
That phone is Now pass code Lock.
The only way is by data cable unlock
or one of those unlocking web sites.
Which can be found by Google.

That would make sense that the first Samy had a problem, there should not be any codes required to change SIMs between 2 phones locked to the same provider. Did you get the Samsung from Cingular if so they will do a warranty excahnge if less than 1 year old. Even if it not from Cingular, it will be covered by warranty by Samsung. Ofcourse I am assuming your phone is less than 1 year old.

Jones, would you be kind enough to go back and please read the OP's posts. The only reason that he/she tried to SIM unlock the Samsung is because the phone asked for it. I am sure I don't have to tell you that a phone locked to Cingular does not ask for a SIM unlock code with a Cingular SIM, unless there is something wrong with the phone and/or the SIM card.

Now, if you read the OP's last post to which you have replied (basically saying the same thing as you did in your reply to me),again and carefully, you will see that just by trying a different phone the problem was taken care of, which is good because since I fail to understand how you repeating the same thing again provides a solution for him/her.
