| mine has 850, 900, 1800 and 900/1800mhz. HELP! Did I just make a big purchase mistake? |

A quad band phone should have 850/900/1800/1900 on it. Now if yours just has 850/900/1800 then it's a tri-band phone. If it happens to be a Tri-Band phone with no 1900 Mhz then you are in a bit of trouble. Some areas only operate GSM in the states at 1900 Mhz. For instance all of the Carolina's and East TN (Knoxville, Tri-Cities) only have GSM at 1900 Mhz. To get the best GSM coverage in the US you really need a 850/1900 Mhz phone. If you stick to the city and major areas a 1900 Mhz only GSM phone might be fine for you but I'd never get a 850 only GSM phone. Even in some major cities without that 1900 Mhz signal you won't have any GSM coverage at all. |
