Default Buying from Walmart

I'm eligible for an upgrade and was thinking about picking up the black RAZR from Walmart since it is $68 I believe. My question is what happens if I have a problem with my phone and need a replacement. Can I just go through Cingular's exchange program or do I need to go through Walmart? Also, is the $50 rebate available if I buy it at Walmart? Thanks.

If they are giving you a rebate it is included in the price @ walmart. Exchanges will still be done through Cingular.

Is there any reason not buy from Walmart? I never pictured buying a cell phone such as the RAZR from Walmart before so I keep thinking there is some downside, but maybe there is not.

It would be the same as buying from any other authorized dealer. Just double check that the deal is available to you as a returning customer. Some places like Best Buy have a second, higher price for people who aren't activating new service.

Yeah, I noticed that today when I was at Best Buy. $69.99 if you are new customer, but $199 if you are a current customer who is upgrading. Not sure why a new customer gets that much more of a discount if the one who is upgrading is willing to sign a 2 year.

Bait & switch. I'm sorry, you don't qualify for the $69.99 price. I can sell it to you for $199 - $100 more than if you went into a Cingular corporate store though. Shall I wrap one up for you Sir?

I believe Cingular, and other cell phone companies, give bigger incentives to their resellers for new activations.

You would think that if you are re-entering another 1 or 2 year contract you should be given the same tretment. Especially now having the ability to just take your number somewhere else.

I have 2 more $25 cingular giftcards coming. I may buy a razr at walmart when they come in. I'm still trying to hold out and see how much the V3i and V3x are going to be though.

I am picking mine up at the Cingular store today. Am going to add the line for the daughter, and I'll get the Razr for 99 after rebate.

If you go to a corporate stote they have a BOGO offer that is good on a add-a-line. You can upgrade the V551 then too.

Got my black RAZR today. Went to Sam's Club and Walmart first, but was not able to get the $70 price as they said those were for NEW subscribers only. Upgrade price was $99 which was clearly listed on the price sheets by the phone. So I just decided to go to a corporate store since I would rather purchase from there as long as I'm paying the same price. $99 isn't too bad though so I'm happy. Especially since I was able to sell my v551 on eBay and make $80 on the deal. So far the RAZR is pretty slick, although the thinness and the way it is when holding it to your ear will take some getting used to. I have made a couple calls and sound clarity seems to be good.
