Nobody knows the exact date because Cingular can change it anytime. Some approximation is usually known a few days before release.

Forgive me for belaboring the point, but if Cingular simply wanted to send the phone back to Nokia for a feature enhancement, they could have done that last winter - Phonescoop has an article about the "launch event" back in December 05.

Why did they go into testing (some of the test phones showed up on eBay), why were Nokia reps bringing the 6282 around to the stores this spring for the managers to become familiar with it, why was it on the rebate sheet and why did Cingular distribute flyers on the phone to at least some stores? Seems to me that there was some major indecision here. Some parts of the company were working toward a launch in May/June/July. Then they decided to pass.

All academic, really, but it doesn't make them look too good and adds to the frustration of us gadget freaks. Thanks for keeping us on the cutting edge .

Maybe it is all procedural stuff. Maybe they had to go through the testing procedure anyway in order to gather everything they wanted to change on the phone and then send that info back to Nokia. I'm sure adding 850 is not the only thing they want to change on it.

I think I posted my question in the wrong place. I was talking about the Samsung zx20. I wanted to know when and if this phone is coming out. After exhausting research and racking my brains about this I think we are going to stay with Verizon but we are taking the year contract instead of the two year. I appreciate all the feedback I got from everyone. Thanks to all.

For those of you waiting for the 6126, it will no longer be in Cingular stores for July 5th. Rumor Radio says it has been delayed for about two extra weeks to get new firmware that just came out tested.

OK, thanks for the heads-up. This is really going to be cutting it close for me - I posted in another thread about my informal agreement with Cingular to get the 6126 at the discount price. I need it to come out by July 19! Eek! I mean !!

I needed to get a new contract for various reasons, but I convinced them to give me the 2-year price on the 6126 when it's released. They said OK, but we'll only hold the offer for 30 days. I want to save that 100 bucks!

It's not $100 bucks you'll be saving, its $82.

I stand corrected. I'd still feel like a chump if I paid full price while at the same time promising to pay them $50+/month x24. They should give me the phone for free!!

I decided to pay full price when it comes out. I totally refuse getting a 2-yr contract and if I buy it at the 1-yr price is only $32 cheaper than buying it full price, all because of the much hated $18 upgrade fee. So, I rather pay $32 more than the 1-yr price and be able to continue contract-free.

Well, if they give me a hard time about the release date, maybe I'll take that position. Then we'll see how they react. Thanks for the strategy!

bobolito, all the picture of the 6126 that you have posted are silver with the salmon pink insert. My 6131 is black with black and the pictures of the 6126 on the Nokia site are also black with black.

Is the silver pink a special color for Cingular?

Just curious.

Thanks much...

I was told by a guy in the Chicago Nokia store that the Cingular 6126 is going to have that black rubbery stuff like yours. I was holding one of the T-Mobile 6103s that has the same covering, and he offered that tidbit, contrasting it with the smooth shiny 6102i that Cingular has now.
