Default ATT PDA Phone - Plan Conversion

I am in a bit of a dilemma...I purchased an ATT (Audiovox) PDA phone approx 2 yrs ago, and I now want to get a family plan and purchase an additional phone for my wife. The problem is that in Feb 06 my plan is complete and I will be forced to miograte to Cingular, I was informed that my phone is no longer usable on the Cingular network, since it was rather expensive, I obviously am not interested in purchasing a new phone. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might fix this problem? Are these phone usable on any other network?

Default Re: New Cingular fonez coming soon!

Which Audiovox model is it? About the only reason for Cingular to say that, was that it has only the GSM 1900 MHz band for North America and lacks the 850 MHz band.

If your coverage is satisfactory, then you might wish to have it unlocked by a third party. You should search for this service yourself. Thereafter, you could use an orange Cingular SIM (and rate plan with rollover) instead of your existing blue ATTWS SIM. While your PDA phone was away, simply put your SIM in another ATTWS or unlocked GSM phone.

Or study the available PDA phone on the Cingular website. There are several refurbished models available, including the Treo 650 for $139.99.

Hey Tripy.. nice to see you here!

I kinda doubt we'll see the V3x at all, at least from Cingular.

By the way, I read there are plans to release another V3 with EDGE, but I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Moto has a 3G phone in the works that is going under the code name "Carina" and it will be a UMTS device instead of HSDPA. My understanding is that it is the device we know as the V3x.

Tripy, thanks for posting the image, and no I did not know that the phone had been out for about a month now. I was going by the article on MSNBC's site that said the phone was being released on Wednesday. Darn, thought I had a scoop for WA peeps, guess not. Thanks again

According to CNET, the v3i will be available in March, and the v3x won't make it to the U.S.

Darnit! I've got some Cingular giftcards that expire starting the end of Feb. I was hoping it would come out sooner, then I could apply the giftcards and lower my cost.

the v3x looks pretty sweet, but what would we do with a UMTS phone if we have no real UMTS service here yet? one would not use ther phone at its full potential, which kind'a makes it overkill.

Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, Cingular has Motorola RAZRs in Black and Now in Pink, Too!
Just in Time for Valentine's Day, Cingular Launches the Motorola Pink RAZR

ATLANTA, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- This Valentine's Day, forgo the chocolates and the flowers, the balloons and cuddly stuffed animals, and even the fancy night out on the town. Give your special someone a gift that will make their heart ring long after Cupid puts down his arrows, the new Motorola Pink RAZR from Cingular Wireless.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060201/CLW052 )

The Motorola Pink RAZR is about as fashionable and as practical as a wireless phone can be. As with its predecessors, the Motorola Pink RAZR is an ultra-thin mobile phone created with aluminum, magnesium nickel-plated copper alloy and chemically-hardened glass, only this time softened with a pink finish that delivers a touch of elegance. Inside its sleek frame is the latest in mobile technology, including video playback and record, Bluetooth® wireless technology, VGA digital camera with zoom and quad-band for global communications.

"Cingular is committed to offering our customers an array of handsets that appeal to all styles and tastes," said David Christopher, vice president of product management, Cingular Wireless. "The Motorola Pink RAZR is a fashionable twist on one of our most popular wireless handsets. With its wealth of functions, ultra-sleek design and now a fashionable new look, it is sure to be on many wish lists this Valentine's Day and beyond."

The Motorola Pink RAZR will be available next week, beginning February 6, through select Cingular Wireless retail locations or via http://www.cingular.com/ for $149.99 with a two-year service agreement. For more information, please visit http://www.cingular.com/.
