is it ever less than 150? how, besides waiting out the contract, can you get it waived?

Depends on the state. If you live in a state where they have a prorated ETF, it is $240 to start and slowly drops to $0 at the end of the contract.

Ways to get it waived, death, military post outside of the country. You could also transfer the contract to someone else, change of finacial resopnobility.

Yep, that's the only thing you can do. Other than that you have to cough up the ETF.

Cingular Plan Terms:

Terms Applicable to Cingular Nation GSM Plans:

Wireless service is subject to credit approval. An early termination fee of $240 prorated over the length of the service agreement applies to subscriptions in the following states: AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN, NY and parts of IN and NJ. A non-prorated $150 early termination fee applies in all other areas. If phone is returned within 3 days, activation fee will be refunded. If phone is returned within 30 days in like-new condition with all components, early termination fee will be waived. All other charges apply. Minutes will be depleted according to usage in the following order: night and weekend minutes, mobile to mobile minutes, anytime minutes and rollover minutes.

I have done the change in financial responsibility thing and it worked well. I would recommend it if you can find someone.

Back with Sprint. If they don't work our it's all Larry's fault.

I will say I am glad I'm moving to AZ next week because Sprint barely works where I am right now. They guy I'm going to be living with has Sprint though, so they must be ok there, right? heh.

ETF's are fun! Luckily my bill was around $100 everymonth anyway, so an extra $50 on one of them isn't so painful.
