I'm looking to get a Cingular pay as you go prepaid plan, but I don't like the prepackaged phones. I also don't want to have to pay the premium price for the better phones. I'm thinking about buying a used phone and new sim off of ebay. Excuse my ignorance about how all this works...My question is: Will I have a problem getting Cingular to activate the phone? Also, the sim card I thought about getting was one of these>>HERE Would it work in say, a Moto V551? Do these sims fit in all brands of cingular phones? And last, I noticed it is a 64K mem card. Do these sims come with differing amounts of memory? |

While we are on the subject of prepay...I was looking to get a backup phone for the girlfriend....as I just know my old 6340i won't be lasting too much longer Now I can find a decent Nokia 6010 on ebay for like 40-50 bucks. Couldn't I just get a prepaid phone....for like 20 or 30 bucks...and just not use it as prepay? I was at Sam's club last week and they were selling Virgin mobile and some other CDMA model prepaids...no GSM |

You can use any current Cingular GoPhone with a post paid account. Just pop in the SIM and go.

Gamer & xikle are correct. I picked up my 6010 at Wal-Mart for $62 w/ tax. If you are wanting a phone for $20-$30 you will more then likely have to go through Cingular.com, as they have specials you can't get at stores. Also at my Wal-Mart they have the V180 ($90) for GoPhone which I haven't seen before, it's not even on Cingular.com.
