deactivated sim card My husband opened an account without my knowledge and had it closed after he knew I found out. It is a motorola razr3. The sim card has been deactivated. I need to retrieve the information on his card so that I can to the bottom of why he opened the account. I believe it is to call someone he doesn't want me to know about. I have his phone. THe phone is keypad lock code on it. So I can't get in the phone plus the sim card is deactivated. I wanted to buy a sim card recovery device, but was advised by the sales person that if the card has been deactivated I won't be able to retreive any information. Please help me. I have been with him for 12 years. We have a 8year old and I am 5 months pregnant.
The phone is an from AT&T
I just want the truth because he is denying everything.

Re: deactivated sim card Well, you can always put the card in another phone to read anything stored in the SIM, but I'd say if he was smart he would not have stored any numbers on the SIM. I feel bad for your situation, but the truth is that the bond of trust has already been broken. Will finding out who he was calling really change anything for the better?

Re: deactivated sim card No not really but he's making feel crazy like he is denying everything. I just wan't more information so I can prove I am not the one with problem, he is. Is there a way I can get in the locked phone and see if there is information.

Re: deactivated sim card The only way to "get in" is to reinstall the phone's operating system. Its like saying you forgot the password to your computer, so you format the hard drive & reinstall Windows. You will never know what is there. Even at that, if the battery
has been removed from the phone, even for just one second, or the battery dies anything stored in the call history is lost. Like I said as long as he didn't store any numbers on the SIM card, and you never find a bill, you will never know.
Sorry,

Re: deactivated sim card It is pretty complicated to reinstall the phone's OS, and if any mistakes are made the phone will be rendered unrecoverable. I do not recommend it to beginners. Exactly what model V3 is it? (There are several versions sold by ATT
/Cingular).

Re: deactivated sim card This probably won't work, but try taking the battery
and SIM card out for a day and see if the password is still there when you put the battery back in.
If that does not work then we need to know if its a Razr V3, Razr V3 06, Razr V3xx, Razr V3i, Razr V3r, or Razr 2 V9 (and I probably missed a model or 2. They have had a lot of variations, and they all use different software.) They all look pretty much the same so you will probably see the model designation on the label under the battery.

Re: deactivated sim card Some information about a phone's call history. If one has not deleted the call history, it will remain in the phone from which the calls were made. If the SIM card is removed from the phone and put into another phone, the history is lost from both the old phone and the SIM card. If another SIM card is put into the old phone, the call history is lost. A SIM card can be removed from a phone and returned to it without disturbing the history if no other phone or SIM card gets involved in the chain.
Summary:
SIM card to different phone equals no history.
Different SIM card to phone equals no history.
SIM card out of original phone and back again equals saved history.

Re: deactivated sim card So what are your intentions after you find out "the truth?" If you intend to stay married, it does not matter whther you find out or not. If you intend to get a divorce, you do not have to prove fault. Your husband is legally responsible for supporting you and the marriage's children regardless of the reason for the divorce.

Re: deactivated sim card In my experience removing the battery
or letting a battery completely drain will clear out the call history.

Re: deactivated sim card You can take a phone out of a drawer months after you have last used it and the call history will still be there. That is as long as the phone/SIM card combination has not been disrupted. You can change batteries
to your heart's content and the history stays there. Once the number changes or the SIM card goes to another phone, no history.

Re: deactivated sim card Finally got time to test these scenarios and found out it's very much phone dependent. With an SE K850i call history travels with the SIM I can put different SIMs in it and it'll show call history for each SIM. Nokia phones lose history if the SIM is changed in the phone (move SIM out, place another in, place original back equals lost history), but do not lose history if the SIM is moved from one phone to another, then back. So the bottom line I guess there's no guarantee the call history can not be retrieved from the SIM card.
