Stereo Bluetooth to my car stereo

My car stereo has bluetooth capability and I remember with my old Nokia 6131 I used to stream music to the stereo. Now that iPhone has that capability I decided to test it out but I realized I was out of luck. The iPhone simply does not stream music to my stereo. A Google search returned some messages about people saying that they were experiencing the same problem with some headsets and stereos, but the majority were able to get it to work. When I am playing the iPod there is no Bluetooth symbol at the bottom so I can manually activate music streaming. The only thing that works with my car stereo is the phone calls as it always did.

Anyone else had issues with stereo Bluetooth with the iPhone?

Hi Bobo,

I have not had any issues with mine. I just got a 3gs and the stereo bluetooth with my Alpine IDA-X001 works pretty well. I was impressed how good it sounded. Only issues I face are the normal issues I have always faced with my bluetooth unit, nothing specific to the iphone. Though it does read "not supported" on my head unit, but it works fine.

Having streamed from my Tilt, to my Pioneer, I remember doing a "pairing" that you haven't mentioned. One pairing for headset profile (wear the car!), and another for binaural audio with remote control.
